River Oaks Golf Club
About
River Oaks Golf Club stretches across more than 800 scenic acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Course begins with the shortest of the three nines and finishes with the longest. The final hole on the front nine presents one of the most interesting risk-reward opportunities on the golf course. You can aim for the right bunker for an open shot at the green or try a long drive down the left side for a short approach. River Oaks Golf Clubs' Otter nine has several challenges in store including mounding, strategically placed bunkers, and tricky water hazards.

Staff Services were unparalleled.
My rating of this course is based predominantly on their Staff! OMG (from Bag Drop to the Head Pro), they were very friendly, helpful & knowledgable! They treated our group like every Tournament Participant was a V.I.P.. The Head Pro Scott Taylor & Assistant Pro Patrick DeWildt were so very helpful when I was setting up our tournament Oct. 20, 2020. I had several questions about how to go about adjusting player handicaps based on a variety of tees being used played within the same flights and several other variables. They not only printed out a copy of the Course Handicap Table, they went into detail on how to apply the information. Bag Drop Shaun who also works as an inside Pro Assistant was very accommodating & helpful on days leading up to our event & during our event. Even the Snack Stand Attendant & Beverage Cart Attendant (Lena) were engaging, friendly & helpful. While the Fox & Otter 9s are going thru small problems here & there, several courses are experiencing the same problems that should abate in the coming weeks. The value for the money is terrific & I encourage others to find out for themselves!
Great round!
Challenging doglegs and lateral water hazards. But totally enjoyable.
Cart path only
For overseeding. Should notify players prior to booking.
Over seeding
Very wet for over seed. Grass very tall, time to dry it out and mow. Fun Lay out and good greens, that were a bit slow but nice.
Just ok
Course need just a little tlc and then would be great...looks to be played an awful lot...layout was great but condition of course could be better
Nice layout
Fun track, good layout. Played after recent over-seeding, but even with that, greens were still pretty nice; rolled well, broke as expected, albeit a little slow. Tee boxes showed the most effect: pretty shaggy. All in all, we'll be playing it again!
There were a lot of swampy areas. But overall course was in good condition. We were paired with a couple who were very slow. They shared clubs which made the play very slow. Suggest all personal playing have their own clubs.
Outstanding Experience
While visiting Myrtle Beach, I randomly selected this course. It was close to my lodging and the fees were reasonable. I was greeted upon my arrival in a very friendly manner by a young man at the bag drop. I asked about a range and he gave me directions immediately. I had made a reservation and the man at the Pro Shop desk quickly checked me in and provided additional info about going to the appropriate first tee. There had been recent rains and there were several wet areas. I was not in a foursome. However, there was a foursome about three groups ahead of us that really slowed play down. We could have used a ranger to speed them up. The lady in the snack bar was was friendly and encouraged me to return during my stay. I’m going to do that! I play 10-12 rounds of golf where I live. This was the friendliest, helpful and mist enjoyable course I’ve visited in several years! Greens were in excellent condition. All of the above provided me with a great golf day in Myrtle Beach!!!
Plain out enjoyable
I golf here often and for the most part its very easy going and the pace is normally good. I'll be back many more
Good course
The fox course tee boxes needs work but rest was great. The otter was great all the way around. Course is tight so be on your game or you will lose your ball
Enjoyable course
Fairways and greens were nice. Staff was friendly.
The 3 hour tour
I'm not a local, but apparently they cater to them. I showed up for my 1 PM tee time and was put with another single, no biggie. They have 3 9 hole courses there, so we were to play one then move to the other for the back. However, when we get to the tee, there is a total of 10 golfers ahead of us. We didn't tee off until 1:56 and there were two more behind us. It got really bad because a group of 5 ladies weren't driving to their ball. They were walking from the cart path and no, there were no cart path only rules. We phoned the shop to tell them to please do something, which never happened. It took 2 decent golfers over 3 hours to play 9. We had to rain check the back 9. Would say I'd never come back, but now I have to. Anyway, we made the turn and discovered that 1 of 3 courses were closed because of a local scramble of about t 80+ ppl. It was a ridiculous day of golf. Course was in decent shape, greens were pretty fast too. Dont go unless you have all day to play.
