River Oaks Golf Club
About
River Oaks Golf Club stretches across more than 800 scenic acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Course begins with the shortest of the three nines and finishes with the longest. The final hole on the front nine presents one of the most interesting risk-reward opportunities on the golf course. You can aim for the right bunker for an open shot at the green or try a long drive down the left side for a short approach. River Oaks Golf Clubs' Otter nine has several challenges in store including mounding, strategically placed bunkers, and tricky water hazards.

River Oaks Golf Club
This course was very enjoyable to play. The staff were extremely nice and remembered my name. The course itself was in decent condition considering the rain earlier in the week. It's level of difficulty fit my skills very well. I had two very enjoyable rounds, one on Friday and then on Saturday.
staff very friendly and accomodating
Enjoyed the whole experience of a well kept course.
Interesting layout
Course has 3 nine hole layouts and are unique in their layout. Course was in good shape and play was light.
Underwhelmed
Slow, slow, slow...and they even let a twosome tee off in front of us as we were making the turn! Unbelievable. A five plus hour round.
Tee boxes are awful, particularly on the par three holes. Greens are also pretty slow.
I enjoyed the layout...not much else.
Nice Round
Enjoyed my round at River Oaks. In pretty good shape but you can tell it gets a lot of play. A few of the greens had very rough spots. Will play there again for sure.
Had a great time
Went out with a threesom played good you need to stay in the ferway ruff is thick had a good time made new friends
River Oaks what took me so long
I have played here at Mrytle Beace for a long time. I have never played this course. My mistake. Nice location good layout. Course was in good shape. Staff very helpfull and kind.
A good course in need of watering
We played in the afternoon, and it was very quiet. We had no one behind us, so we played at a leisurely pace.
The staff was friendly, thanking us for playing River Oaks. There are three nines to mix and match for play.
The course layout is such that holes are isolated from one another, buffered by trees. Fairways are generous enough o reward good shots. Of concern was how dry the course was. The heat and summer drought had an adverse effect on the course with a few greens having some damage and noticeable browning around the greens. Hopefully, with watering and some winter precipitation, the course can recover, as it is a pleasurable course to play.
Enjoyable round of golf
After a major 2018 hurricane, 2019 tropical storm and an extremely hot summer, all golf courses in Myrtle Beach took some hits. At River Oaks, some of the greens and tee boxes had heat damage, and portions of fairways were browned. That aside, we enjoyed playing at the course. It starts with a staff that is friendly and helpful. At bag check, bags are unloaded form the car and put on carts that were cleaned, and included ball and club washers. In the pro shop, the staff was friendly. They even included a course book which we found invaluable, as we never played the course before. The course offered some challenges without beating you up. The Bermuda grasses were a new experience for us, as we come from New England. A few minutes on the practice green helped a lot. There are five tee boxes, so you can play the course as long, or short, as you wish.
Playing with my wife, we payed for nine holes. This course was one of the ones in Myrtle Beach that allowed nine hole play. And, the rates were very reasonable.
Good For The Money
Played with my brother in law. Course was in fair condition. Some interesting holes as usual. Forward tees (gold and white) are shorter than most equivalent "men's and senior" tees at other courses. Played 27 which was nice having 3 different 9 hole tracts. Great course to play first day of our week at Myrtle Beach.
Great Time
First time playing in South Carolina and chosen the correct course to play. Fun in the sun !
