Farmstead Golf Club is a 7,242-yard par-72 layout on McLamb Road in Calabash, N.C. and is among the newest courses to open in the Grand Strand. Farmstead also has the unique distinction of having the region's only par 6! That's right, the 740-yard 18th hole is sure to become one of the most talked about in the Grand Strand.
Farmstead was designed by Willard Byrd and David Johnson and features a rare par-6. The 18th hole measures 767 yards from the back tees, as well as 679 from the white and 635 from the ladies' red tees.

Beautiful Conditions
The course conditions were top notch. The greens were immaculate. Most fairways were wide and attainable. The staff was great, and got us off early which helped with the threatening weather. Played the 767 yard 18th from the tips, and it was a true 4 shot hole to get to the green. Fun course, and we’ll be back.
Fantastic every time
Farmstead has become one of my top courses to play in the MB area. The layout is diverse, fair, and interesting which makes for a fun round every time, and with the size of the fairways, big hitters will have a field day. For late July, the course couldn’t have been in better shape, especially the greens rolling smooth and true. Only minor downsides were the range was closed for maintenance and no beverage cart but since it was a midweek afternoon, both were understandable. A must play for those in the area.
Excellent Summer Conditions
For the heat of the summer, the course was in excellent shape and the greens were smooth and quick. The round was just under 4 hours and we enjoyed the variety of the layout and the generous fairways to bomb it off the tee. One of my MB area favorites!
A gem
Such a great course. Greens run fast, but soft and playable. Track itself is challenging and fair. The par 6–what a way to end a round. I loved it and will be back.
Great conditions
Tees, fairways and greens where perfect. A little wet but after big thunderstorms during the night it was very playable. Highly recommend this course on your trip to myrtle beach. Oh and the par 6 is awesome. Made birdie!!
Amazing Condition for Late July
Great course, great conditions. Best in the area for great price
Enjoyed the layout
This course was a lot of fun and the greens were in perfect shape. The course overall was in great shape. I would come back and play here any time.
open and forgiving with some hidden challenges
first time playing here
open and forgiving for wayward shots
greens, tees and fairways were all in very good shape
I plan on coming back
Best course in the area
Great golf course. Best greens in the area. Good test of golf.
Challenging track, friendly helpful staff, full service
First time to play this course, did so on hot deal. Course is challenging and in mostly good condition. Greens were in excellent shape, hard to read. Tees were a little rough in places but fairways were in great condition. Was a hot
day, fortunately there are some trees near tees to provide shade. Fairways mostly generous, greens well trapped, some very interesting holes including par 6 finishing hole.
Great course!!!!
Really enjoyed my round. In town for vacation and recommend this course. Good layout, and course is in great shape. Greens were perfect and consistent. Will definitely be back!!!
Great course/shape but pace of play in back was slow
The course is fun and is always in great shape which is why I make it a point to play it whenever in the area. The only part of the experience that wasn’t a five start review was the pace of play. We were the first group out and played the front in 1:45 but the pace on the back was slow due to running multiple groups off ahead of us and the starters not fully understanding who was the lead group. Small knock, I know, but overall great experience. I will definitely be back and will refer others.
Amazing Experience
Check in and staff were smooth and everyone was very friendly. Masks were required in the clubhouse and all staff were wearing them (properly). The real gem is the quality and condition of the golf course. Greens were fast and true and we played in under 4 hours. The 712 yard 18th hole par 6 was the icing on the cake and completed our amazing experience. Will definitely come back.
Excellent
This was my second time on the course but about 4 years since the first play through. Brought my father with me for his first time and the course was in fantastic shape. Greens are true and fast and in the heat of the day it’s not crowded and all was wonderful. We played here on a hot deal and it’s definitely worth it. If you don’t mind spend 60-90 dollars to play around then you will love it as well. Will play here plenty more in the future I’m sure.
Great course , great layout
Great course. Wide fairways leading to protected greens. Both in great shape. Very few houses on the course. Definitely a must play in Grand Strand Area
