Good Challenging Course
Played after it had rained for 3 straight days so the course was pretty wet but can’t complain about it. Fairways and greens were in terrific shape other than it just being wet. Took almost 5 hours to play though which is a bit long. The par 6 was a fun hole, definitely made you think about how to attack it. Overall, well worth the visit if you’re in the Myrtle Beach area
Highly Recommended
The course was in great shape. Greens were consistent. The course layout will challenge you often. You got to love the 18th hole which is 767 yards.
Great course
The course layout and conditions were great. Friendly staff. Greens we're nice but quite a bit slower than the practice green. Wasn't that busy, but took 5 hrs. as a twosome. We were 3rd in a string of 3 twosomes behind a very slow foursome. We were supposed to be linked up, but other twosomes didn't want to play with a woman, my wife (who plays faster than most guys).
Wide open throttle
Most attractive feature of Farmstead are the wide fairways, plenty of space abounds if you’re driver is a little off. That said, choose your tee box wisely when wet as the course plays longer than it looks/reads on the card. Moved up one box on back nine and reduced # of bogeys, actually parred in last 3 holes. The 18th is a treat that tempts you to get home in 3 for your birdie 2-putt opportunity.
Thoroughly Enjoyed This Course
Booked a round here after reading the reviews on this site. I'm glad I did. What a fun course to play. The only drawbacks to me were that they had punched the greens and I didn't know that beforehand, and they send groups off both 9's in the morning. I guess that's common practice down south. Other than that, the layout of the course is fantastic. The par 6 was unique and a lot of fun. Never played one of those before. Even with the greens and the mid-summer heat, the course was in nice shape. Would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenging, but fair course near OIB / North Myrtle.
Still one of my favorites
I have been playing Farmstead for several years while in the area on vacation. However, I hadn’t been in a year or so. I was able to play there today and it’s still one of my favorites. To me, two things make the course, the layout and the greens. The links style layout gives you some forgiveness off the tee as far as being able to find you ball. But if your in the wrong spot par is gonna be hard to do. There is a good mix of holes-long, short, doglegs, and no real intimidating forced carries. Although there is a lot of water on the sides of the holes. Of course the Par 6 18th is cool as well. The greens are firm and quick. Really liked the way they rolled. The rest of the course is in good-not great shape. Some fairways on the front had several bare spots in them. This didn’t affect my play at all. But they are there. The rough is really thick Bermuda. It was basically a 1 stroke penalty at times. You were just hacking it out. It’s a fun round worth playing over and over. Can’t wait to be back in the area to do it again!
Great Course!
Really fun course to play. Inexpensive and conditions were top notch even though it rained the day before. Will be returning as soon as possible.
Great price for a great all-around course
Had one of the first tee times and we were the first group off the back side, could not have been happier with course. It rained all day the day before, therefore it was cart path only, but course was still in great condition. Will be playing again next time I’m in Myrtle Beach Area.
A really fun course to play
1. Layout: The layout at Farmstead is really nice. Their gimmick is that you frequently start a hole in NC and end in SC; including on the par 6 18th hole. When I heard they had a par 6 I assumed it would be a dumb hole, but it is actually a good mix of challenge and creativity. Overall, the course layout is enjoyable, but not without challenges. It is fairly open and would be a great course to start a golf trip.
2. Conditioning: The course is in great shape until you get to the greens. About 1/3 of the greens are very bare and bumpy, while the rest are in very good shape. Since the greens are so different, judging speeds can be tough.
3. Overall: Farmstead is a fun course to play and once the greens grow back it will be in good shape.
Good golf course
Very nice track, very good conditions, very professional staff at every level. Good golf experience.
Highly recommend
WALKED THE COURSE EVEN THOUGH WE RODE
This is the first time we played this course and it was cart path only. It did make it a little more work, but in general we did like the course. The tee boxes and fairways are in great shape, however the greens still need some growth. It was hard ending on a long par six when we had pretty much walked the rest of the course. But all-in-all we had a good day and would go back again.
Fun track
Weather could have been better! Not courses fault great time
Always a fun course to play - great for all skill levels. Well maintained - friendly staff.
Strongly recommend this golf stop.
Farmstead=Long round
Very disappointing round. Group in front of us held us up all day. 5 hours. Ranger, who was a nice guy, said “yeah I know it’s tough” but did nothing.
Inconsistent Greens
Overall a very good day yet 4-5 of the greens were very bare thus inconsistent. Tee boxes and fairways excellent. 4:35 round.
Great course
Course was in very good condition given the time of year. Especially enjoyed the par 6 18th hole
Always a pleasure
Pleasant and friendly staff at a fun and interesting course is a pretty good combination. This is never a bad choice!
