Farmstead Golf Club is a 7,242-yard par-72 layout on McLamb Road in Calabash, N.C. and is among the newest courses to open in the Grand Strand. Farmstead also has the unique distinction of having the region's only par 6! That's right, the 740-yard 18th hole is sure to become one of the most talked about in the Grand Strand.
Farmstead was designed by Willard Byrd and David Johnson and features a rare par-6. The 18th hole measures 767 yards from the back tees, as well as 679 from the white and 635 from the ladies' red tees.

Fair course
Somewhat difficult for seniors. Lots of 'breaks' on greens, which are fast. Lots of sand on back nine.
18th hole (signature hole) is long.
Nice couse, good value.
Course was in good condition. Wide fairways with a fair layout. Number 18 is a par 6 (604 from the middle tees) adds an interesting twist.
Very Nice Course for the Money
Excellent course layout and conditions. Fairway grass is good, but some persistent wet locations. Greens are very fast, but we played in mid - February, when grass was dormant.
Moors type layout
The golf course was very wet - I was surprised that they let us out. Farmstead is very well maintained and a real challenge for those of us that are not long hitters and on this day would have loved a little roll. I would like to play this one again under drier conditions as it should be a fair challenge. Love the par 6 finishing hole - long - long - long
Everything was good but chemicals on course made it cart path only from 11 thru 18.
Outstanding condition
Course always seems to be in prime condition. Very playable, yet challenging. Grumpy old guys handling bags and carts, but that just adds to the personality of the place. Played here several times over the past few years, and this place continues to be a hidden gem!!
Nice Course
Course was very nice and greens were very fast. I would play it again and recommend it to friends.
Beautiful Course, Great layout
A very nice course, great condition, fastest greens we played on the entire trip
Nice staff
Great layout
Great value for a hot deal
Placement of obstacles...not just traps but bushes, trees, etc. make this links course interesting to try to carry them or hit around. Greens are mostly flat..not much break. Neat incorporation of its chicken emblem throughout the course. I'm guessing this was a farm house at some point. Only par 6 I've ever played. Rained a couple inches night before yet course was still very playable. Open fairways as no houses on the course so you can be off some with your drives and still score well. $75 is way too much but for a hot deal you must play this course if you're in the area.
Nice course
Course was in very good condition. The greens were in very good shape. Moderate speed on the greens. Fairways and tees were in very good shape also. Bunkers were flooded due to rain previous night. Fun layout. Would play again.
Giant greens
Large fairways, lots of sand, very good greens. Par 6 not so bad.
over rated
After reading reviews, I was somewhat disappointed with the course. Maybe I just expected something a little nicer. For the course, I felt the value was only fair.
I noted the rangers were quick to correct golfers for no no's yet said nothing about the slow foursome in front of us. By hole nine, the group in front of us were two holes behind the group in front of them.
I probably will not return to Farmsted as there are too many nicer courses in the area for the same cost.
Nice course. Enjoyable to play. Liked the finishing par. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Beautiful Course
Outstanding course layout, challenging, but fair to all talent levels. Greens and fairways grasses were outstanding. Cart paths were smooth and well kept. The par 6 hole was outstanding, playing from one state go another (SC to NC). Will definitely go back.
Enjoyed My Round
First time playing course. Played as a single in the afternoon.
Course was very wet. Cart path only. It had rained the night before. Did not realize that it had rained that hard.
Greens were in good shape. Putts were very true.
Very fair course. Noting tricky about it. Wide open fairways. Very forgiving off of the tee.
Excellent conditions
We played a round at Farmstead in the brutal heat of August and the course couldn't have been in better condition. Clubhouse staff was friendly, grill made us an excellent breakfast before the round. There was no beverage cart that day, so the starter allowed us to take our cooler. Played worse than average, but had an enjoyable round. Made the first par 6 of my life!!
