Front 9 in poor condition, back 9 in fair conditon
I was very disappointed in the condition of the Tigers Eye golf course. This used to be the crown jewel of the Big Cats at Ocean Ridge, but the front 9 was in really poor condition. I will think twice before booking this course again while I'm done there in August on vacation.
Need new management
Greens in rough shape. Weeds throughout the course. Bridges need to be redone.
Greens
Greens were just verticut which spoiled the round.
Greens in bad shape.
A number of the greens were in very bad shape. We had to move our balls to actually have a decent patch of green to hit towards the hole. The fairways were very spotty.
Thank you for choosing Tiger's Eye Golf Links. We apologize the greens were not at their best during this visit. We have taken great measures recently to address these issues and we are seeing improvement already, which will continue as we move forward. We hope you will visit us again soon and see our continued progress.
A little neglected
I first played the course when the Big Cats first opened and it was a premier destination, however now it seems like it needs a refresh. I realize that it was a couple of days removed from a heavy rainstorm but the sand traps were unplayable and looked like they had been that way for a while. The greens were also in questionable condition, myself and a member of my group had to move our balls on the green a couple of times to avoid bare patches and small sodded areas. I realize that times are tough and maintaining four courses is a major challenge, I feel that it's time for a makeover of a nice design. Staff was great, I was a single and they added me to play with a couple. Played quickly although we didn't need to.
Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to Tiger's Eye,. We definitely had a rough patch of weather that contributed to some issues, but we have taken great measures to address those issues and the course is looking much better now and will continue to improve as we move forward. Thank you again and we hope you will visit us again soon.
Finally played Tiger’s Eye
I’ve read lots of reviews, and I’d heard Tigers Eye had stumbled for a bit. I also read they were turning the corner. .
Practice green looks bad, but rolls nicely. Course greens had a few spots, & were vertacut a couple of days previously, but they all rolled great. The few bad spots are easily avoided.
Tees were first be, and fairways were great. Only poor lies would be along the edges of the woods, which is pretty typical in the area.
Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Afternoon round, I finished in less than 4 hours.
Is readily play it again.
Thank you very much for the nice Four Star review of Tiger's Eye. We truly appreciate it.
Greens bad
Course layout great but greens were just verticut and had no grass. Why in prime season ???
It was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed being out. It was the first time replaying this course Iin several years. Nice course and facilities. The course was in great shape but could use some rain as is probably the case in many courses in the area. Tigers Eye is a good layout to test your golf skills. I would recommend to most golfers as there are multiple tee boxes to test any level.
Need new management
Our same foursome played Tiger's Eye shortly after it opened about 16 years ago. At that time, the course was in excellent shape and we enjoyed it immensely. We decided to revisit it again and what a disappointment it was.. Although the Staff was friendly, the greens were simply awful, with bare spots and poa annua infestations throughout. Additionally, the course was rough around the edges, with weeds growing everywhere. I played and scored fairly well despite the conditions; but I'd be lying if I said that we weren't very disappointed. It seems that the course has been either horribly neglected or grossly mis-managed.
Thank you so much for the awesome Five Star review of Tiger's Eye! We agree, the course is in very nice condition and getting even better daily! We hope you will visit us again soon!
There's a twinkle back in Tiger's Eye
Course conditions improved from what I had heard they had been in recent years, so kudos to the management and crews to bringing the course back. Greens rolled fast but weed intrusions and rough spots in places still need some attention. Fairways are growing in and greening up, too. Absolutely beautiful layout and I definitely want to and will be playing again.
Thank you very much for the nice Four Star review of Tiger's Eye! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and we would encourage you to check out the other three Big cats courses as well!
Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to Tiger's Eye. Yours is the first 2 star or lower review we have had in quite some time and I was wondering if there was anything in particular that contributed to such a low score? Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated. You can contact me directly at blong@oceanridge.com. Thank you again.
Thank you for the great Five Star review! We hope to see you out Chasing Birdies with The Big Cats again soon!
Thank you so much for the wonderful Five Star review of Tiger's Eye! We agree, the course is in great condition and getting even better daily. We hope you will come visit us again soon!
Accurate Review
I almost canceled my tee time after reading some of the reviews. Glad I did not, Tiger’s Eye is a great layout amongst beautiful tall sand pines. Really solid golf holes. Very peaceful, not a lot of houses…fun layout with opportunity to score, or shoot a high number from correct tee boxes.
Conditions: Tiger’s Eye 4.4.23…had quality tee boxes, fairways, rough and bunkers…very fun to hit full shots, chips and pitches off the turf. The greens are not pristine…they are spotty in places but roll pretty good overall. Good strokes were fairly rewarded. No problems judging speeds. Couple of bald spots here and there, just move the ball no closer to the hole if you need a true roll on a money putt. No reason to pass up a deal time at Tiger’s Eye.
Thank you for the honest review!! we truly appreciate that. As the weather is warming up, the TifEagle bermuda greens will begetting even better daily. We hope you will visit us again soon!
Much Improved from a year ago
Ocean Ridge Plantation has always been a must play over the years. During COVID it was in bad shape, all 4 courses, with that said I have seen an improvement in Tigers Eye & Lions Paw. It is coming along to somewhat back to what I have experienced over the years. Greens were fast, fairways were getting back to where they used to be. Tee Boxes we’re good.
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to Tiger's Eye. We hope you will visit us again soon and see our continued progress.
Outstanding Course
A great course - challenging layout, excellent condition, great greens and nicely manicured!
Thank you for the great Five Star review of Tiger's Eye! We truly appreciate it! Be sure to check out the other three Big Cats courses as well!
We apologize for the conditions you described from your recent visit. These issues have been aggressively addressed and we fully expect the course to be in excellent condition when you visit us in August. I would ask if you made your concerns known to our staff during your visit, and if so, they should have taken some measures to address your concerns and find a mutually satisfactory solution. If that is not the case, please email me at blong@oceanridge.com and we will work with you any way possible to make amends for the issues you described. Thank you. Bill Long ORPG
