Tough but rewarding when able to fiend the fairway
Very friendly staff. The wind makes it very tough but very enjoyable course. Will be be
Well run course
While often windy being by the SF bay, the course appears fairly wide open. There are however hidden dangers lurking. The greens while not super fast are still in very good shape. This course has some really fun holes and I always enjoy playing here.
Metropolitan golf course
Lot of fun today at metro - course was in great shape especially the greens.
A nice round of golf
It was windier than the usual, but it was a enjoyable round. Course in nice condition, friendly & accomodating staff & a good pace of play making up for the wind. I'll be back!
Award - WORST POST COVID COURSE IN THE BAY AREA
So first off I’ve got news for you Metro you are NOT the first course to open during these troubling times, there are A LOT who have all over the state and i have played several; without a doubt Metro’s policing of the whacked out Oakland Mayors intentions with the crisis was by far the worst managed I have taken part in.
To top it off as usual the pace of play was atrocious, I had a work issue come up on the the 15th so I was forced to take it in only to find there were at least 3 holes wide open after passing group in front.. Crisis or not no course should allow a group to fall 3+ holes behind group ahead but oh right I forgot your granting me this privilege to play in the ever so treacherous Oakland area.
Anyone local agrees seriously recommend you go play the MANY other options throughout the bay. Odds are nothing will be as bad as it is here, in fact I know for fact most of them will be a better experience.
Will never come here again unless I’m taking my friends money
Break ins
Beware when parking in their lot. Just had my SUV broken into. This is a major problem at this course.
Great to play again
Flat easy walk. Often windy. Fair/fun course. Greens currently a little slow.
FUN TO B OUT
Great time to b out played with 2 other young guy's 34 and 35 I'm 64 and we had a good battle on the course which is n excellent condition Thanks Metropolitan!!
Great greens but...
The greens here role as good as anywhere else you’ll find in the bay area. But as is always the case there seems to be a problem we’re just maintaining the fairways. Very very rough course, looks completely like a municipal course. Also a little bit of etiquette with repairing the bullet holes on the greens would be nice. But I did only pay $25 so maybe I shouldn’t complain
Great Greens
This course is really a very good value with outstanding greens. We allow you to bump the ball so condition works for me.
Monarch Bay
Good course lay out but it's not a good winter course, it was very wet with "cart path only" restrictions in effect.
The range was closed due to bad weather. The chipping and putting practice areas were adequate and kept in good condition.
The sand bunkers were challenging but very well maintained.
The Restaurant offers a fairly good menu at very reasonable prices.
Bob at the front desk and Mike at the 1st tee provided excellent service.
Great course with limited challenges
It was my first time there. It is a great course overall. The day we went was a little bit cold. On that day, they had a speed challenge for golfers and could won a round of beer who could finish within 4.5 hours. A great way to speed up the pace. The course is well maintained. The only downside is there are quite a few natural protection areas and long bushes. You could lost couples of ball here and there if you could not hit straight shots often.
Downward Spiral
Are used to play metro all the time but started to play elsewhere when course conditionings went downhill a few years ago. Sadly things have not improved. Fairways are very patchy &, seagulls Coots and other birds are everywhere (3 dead birds on fairways). Greens roll pretty well but the course is beginning to resemble more of a low tier muni. Great grass driving range and very nice staff. Sad that the course is not matching. Snack bar very sad too.
