Good condition
Everything are good except slow pace from two groups in front of us and the heavy smoke from the Solano County Fire made us quit at the 10 hole.
Golf
Layout was challenging. With wind makes it A more difficult course. Pace was excellent.
interesting course
Metropolitan Golf Links is an interesting course.
It is not long but plays long because of the winds.
The course played very slowly.
Worst conditions I've seen for this course
The greens are in good shape but the fairways are terrible. You are lucky to find grass under your ball and they are all bumpy and pock marked. Looks like a worn out Muni. It used to be one of my favorite courses but no more.
Windy
At least 1 club wind... which is usual in the afternoon. Greens slow... course is green and in good shape.
Definitely worth checking out
A fairly interesting links style layout with challenging but playable holes. My favorite thing about this course in the past has been the greens, which have been firm and true. This time they were a little long and a bit wet/soft, but still decent. There are some dry patches on the course, but it doesn't really bother me - I just take it as part of the character of the course. It mimics that very short cut, dry, hard turf you see in the Open, or so I like to think. The sand in the bunkers is terrible, but the bunkers are not excessively in play (I didn't get in any, but my playing partners were complaining and I could see how bad the sand was). Overall, it is a good golf experience. My 37 bucks included a hot dog. Can't beat that!
Some good, some not so much
The greens were in great shape, rolled well. Some greens would receive a shot and others were hard. Much of the course was hard and the ball was running. Conditions were rough around the edges, but landing areas were ok. Had a little fox follow us around for several holes. Did not seem intimidated by humans.
Great Golf Challenge - where the ball rolls nobody knows!
Love this course because of the challenge - short game mental toughness and putting accuracy a must!!
always a nice play...
Perfect weather conditions, with a bit of a strong wind which is fairly normal here, but the temps were in the 70’s and took us away from the inland mid 90’s.
Course was in great shape...only found one bunker I should not have been in that could have used more sand...last par 3 on the back...far right bunker.
great value through golf now...pricier than some of the hotter locations inland, but well worth the money.
Overall the whole team there just does a great job !
Avoid here unless you like long rounds even on a weekday
I'm done with this place. It's always slow! I've experienced 3 hr 9s on a Wednesday morning. Today was a 5 hr round waiting every single shot. They also will nickel and dime you for your tee time. Booked online through their website for a Thursday round. They charged me for a cart, even though I wanted to walk. I was told the walking rate was even more than the cart rate! How does that happen?!
Trending downward
I'm not sure if Metro fired it's ground staff, but there has been a noticeable depreciation in conditions in the last 3 months. The tee boxes were in poor condition and apparently overplayed, based on the many divots. The fairways were yellowing in many spots that were once green. The traps were inconsistent. Some had well raked 2" sand depth yet others were hard packed and wet. The greens were in good condition. In current conditions, I would spend > $40 for a round of 18 holes w/ cart.
Golfer
Great course and pace of play was perfect. Excellent practice area (grass) and area's best short game practice area. Highly recommend Metropolitan golf course.
Windy, Cold and Noisy
I enjoyed hitting balls off of real grass and not hard mats on the driving range, but that was the highlight for me. The day we played it was very cold and windy, I heard that was a regular condition for the course. No problem with trees, there are very few that come into play, but there were large areas that are marked Restricted due to environmental reasons. This course is very popular to professional athletes, Warriors, Raiders etc. Give it a try, you may like it.
