The Metropolitan Golf Links

Metro is really good course to test all your skills. This Monday had very little players and we finished in four hours which was a bonus.

I'm not good, so this course was a challenge for me. But, I think it's a course that I could improve my score on as I become more familiar with it.

I hadn't played it in maybe 3 years. I was working then, so I played on the weekend when it was croded and they were trying to push everybody along. Yesterday was much more relaxed and much more fun. Now that I'm retired and plan on more frequent play here.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Greens were still recovering from aeration so a little bumpy. Wind was not blowing so play was easier from what I've been told. Overall a fun day.

Metropolitan is a good golf course. It is links style design. Pace of play is great. It is like you have been transported to Scotland.

There isn't a bad hole at Metropolitan. I played the ball down and only once got a bad lie in the fairway. The greens had recently been aerated, so putting was slow and a little bumpy, but not horrible. From the white tees you can take a lot of trouble out of play, but from further back its a really good test of every club in your bag. I'm keeping this course in my regular rotation.

Friendly staff and the course is well maintained.

Played this course for the second time and both times, the greens were in great condition. Typical windy afternoon, but that was expected. Tougher course than it looks, but the game is tough anyway. Would go back again soon!

Nice layout, very friendly staff.

Doesn't matter when I play this course, it's always annoyingly slow. I've played it on weekdays and weekends and it's never been faster than 2.5hrs. per nine. I've also been charged 65 dollars to play after 3pm!! This time I grabbed a good deal on golfnow and went out at 3pm on a Sunday. 3hrs front nine and I was 2 hrs in with 4 holes to play on the back before I had enough and went in. I really love this course and you can't beat the grass range but the pace of play and the price have kept me from playing more often.

Slow play course needs a Marshall

The course played tougher than usual, or at least tougher than the last time I played it about A year ago. The breeze off the bay really narrows the fairways on certain holes. The greens were also remarkably better than they were last year, all the wobbles her out of the short green area towards the Front of the pins. I will definitely be giving this course another shot their birdies to be had!!!

T off was right on time; the pace of place was very good; the weather was very good with the usual 10-15mph prevailing wind; great practice ranges; proshop staff were helpful / friendly; course marshal was monitoring pace although it would be smart to fly a marshal standard / flag on the marshal's cart.

Course in he afternoon when strong head wind is a blowing very challenging .Be sure to play the tail wind holes well .

I played this course at least 1- 2 a month. And Everytiem I played, I had a nothing but

good memories.

My wife and I flew in to Oakland for a weekend of golf. Our first round was a Metropolitan. Even though we pulled into the parking lot right at our tee time due to rental car issues the staff was very accommodating and got us out playing without hassle. Metro is a nice links style course that is challenging but forgiving. We had a great day and will probably do another weekend in Oakland for a golf get away and Metropolitan Links will be on the schedule as the location is great if you are staying near the Oakland airport.

I play here frequently for the excellent layout, challenging greens, and good conditions. Good flat walking course. The staff is friendly. Some recent slow rounds have bummed me out.

Metropolitan would be a good place to practice against many uncontrollable factors.
Played the other day... continuously for second day made us hard to keep up.
Got tired and lost control a bit that next round would be better result.
Played with Metro Member that helped a lot....

Well maintained course with a friendly, helpful staff.

Greens are always in great shape and can be a fun and fair layout playing very differently depending on the wind direction. Easily accessible from anywhere in the bay area. Rounds are generally pretty quick, although sometimes over booked on weekends. Great for tournaments as well.
