Love this place
If your not there on a wind day or the smell of the near by dumps doesn't come into play. This is the best East Bay course west of 680. Course is always in great shape and the greens are immaculate!!
great day.
We hit wonderful weather and fast play. Nice concrete cart paths.
Pretty much a links type course
GolfNow made this happen on my Birthday with a terrific rate for my party of 3. Now questions asked and our tee time was pushed up about 1/2 hour (thank you). We paired up with a gentleman that was more knowledgeable about the course and we got some good tips during the round. There was NOT a "Cartgirl" and although the course isn't extremely long, a few holes without water makes you think twice.
Eddie x
Enjoyed the course. In good conditions, by a few patches... Greens were in great shape. Had great service from the staff.... Will play again when I return.
slow game
there are so many players at that day .Other players are so slow .We are no able to finish 18 hole.I decided to quit playing after 11 hole. They over book the course that day.
Too many bare spots; Overpriced
For some reason they just can't get the grass to grow on the fairways here. Most holes have major bare spots and uneven surfaces. It makes for a very unfair round of golf unless you move the ball. To their credit, they have tried to redo several of the fairways, but the grass just doesn't seem to grow. This wouldn't be so bad if they charged average green fees, but they take advantage of their proximity to SF and charge top dollar on the weekends- $78 with a cart. The course conditions just don't warrant those kind of prices. They are also one of the few courses to charge for using their practice area. Add in the massive amount of bird droppings on the course and it can make for a rather unpleasant round.
True Links course.
I took a customer out to golf and we were given a true feel of Scotland. Fog was so thick the ball disappeared as soon as you hit it. I've been playing at Metro for years, I've never seen it like this. We had fun with it. I love golfing when the score doesn't matter.
Metro
Fun course. Greens roll true. Fairways in good shape and staff very friendly.
holiday play
Pace of play was very slow on the front 9 as it was a holiday, Columbus Day. The greens were also a bit slow and slightly bumpy, but they were very good when I played there 2 days before.
I like this course, it is convenient
Metro is a course I like to play at least once a week
A little disappointing.
Always been interested in playing this one as it has Johnny Miller's name all over it. Many of the fairways were a patchwork of sod. Lots of bad lies in the fairways due to lack of maintenance. I'm sure this course could be better with some attention. Greens were aerated a week prior to my playing so no comment other than they are nicely sculpted and sure to be nice if taken care of. Will not drive far to play this one unless it is really discounted. Not in premium condition for a Johnny Miller design. Glad to see his name attached to something less than acceptable.
Challenging and fun
It was my first time playing here, and really enjoy it very much. It kind of simple, but yet very challenging. The course condition and pace was great. I would absolutely recommend it, and come back again.
Nice round
I would likely rate this course higher but we played on a holiday during a severe drought so the pace was a little slow and the course was pretty dry. But the tees and greens are in good shape and it is a very fun course. Most fairways are overrun with Geese and they leave their fertilizer all over the course. Overall a gorgeous, wind-free day. I would recommend Metro for a fun and affordable round.
Good test
The greens are the best part about this course. They are well-maintained and putt beautifully. Most of the fairways are patchy but that could be due to the drought and lack of available water.
Lack of service & repair
Was not greeted nicely, was not communicated with in a professional manor when I checked in. There was no starter on the course and there was confussion as to who was playing with who (3 twosomes were standing there waiting to go)? There was no cart girl on the course at all, only saw the Ranger/Player's Assistant once in an 18 hole round and we had trouble with the group ahead of us. They were slow...and a full hole behind. They were rude and one guy was slamming his club into the ground several times and once on a green and made a huge dent which I repaired. Unfortunately we had no-one to tell? There was also a lot of areas in the fairways where it should have been ground under repair but nothing was marked and i didn't see any signs of repair work going on throughout the course? When I returned the cart at the end of the round the guy there by the ball dispenser & cart return didn't say anything to me nor did he even look at me? Not much here for me to grab on too or to want to return especially at regular rates?
Unbearably slow.
Your rating scale only went to 5. You need to add
5 1/2 to 6.
Unbearable and we quit after 11 holes.
go links
you must play this course greens perfect true you could play this 10 days in a row and never have the same shot to the pin on any green great views of privet lets landing over your awesome go play
great layout
great course. the fairways and greens are in great shape. the back 9 is my favorate. the staff was very friendly also.had a great time. will be back soon.
Not my favorite place to play
With this links-type course, the majority of the holes are blind shots. Whether it is a dog-leg or double dog-leg, most shots are hard to direct accurately because you are guessing where the pin/green is located. There are no trees to help with depth perception. Winds are heavy, so any ball with a fade/draw will get carried by the wind sideways. Hitting into the wind, you need to add two extra clubs. If you think it should be a 7 iron, use a 5... Need to be able to keep your shots low, which is opposite of my normal game. There are tons of seagulls and the associated smell. Some holes will have hundreds of birds in the fairway (wear a hat!). The greens were in excellent shape. The browning of drought stricken courses has not effected this course, most fairways are still green.
Course has great facilities and is in great shape.
The staff was friendly at check in and at the range and at the end of the round.
The course was in great shape from the tee, to the fairway and on the greens.
The greens appeared to roll true to the break lines. The course played windy at times which would be as expected near the water. That wind was the challenging part of the course. There are a few holes that required target golf from tee to green as well.
Overall, the course is great and fair.
