No the best time to go
I guess is a great course but this time they only have the front nine available and the greens were terrible full of sand, I will make sure next time before going.
Fun course with nice layout, good practice facility
I had heard the pace of play was a concern at this course. However, we played on a Saturday morning and had no issues. The course was decently maintained and the layout was moderately challenging. There were some areas on the fairways that were burnt out, but the majority of the course was lush. The greens looked much faster than they actually were. Perhaps it was just the morning dew, but they never really got rolling. Still, I would recommend this course if you can get an early tee time.
Sloooooow Sunday
5.5 hours is just too darn long for a round of golf. They had a tournament in the morning and did not allow enough time before booking regular players. They sure generated more money that way. However, they frustrated a lot of golfers who will probably not come back.
Course was Gettable - Low Wind, Warm Day
Was unique low wind, warm day, so course played more like regular than linksy, though helped that 1 in group had experience with where to hit em!
Only issue with course is that a few more bare spots on fairway than would like and it can get lumpy around greens. Also, distance markers are necessary since no GPS anymore in cart and no trees or perspective from FW on shots.
Nice layout. Played here before
Had to ask for my money back on this round. Took me almost 1 1/2 hours to play 3 holes. 2 and 3 groups backed up on each hole. Many twosomes refusing to merge with other twosomes. No monitoring of pace of play. Small tournaments should not screw it up for everyone else.
Very disappointed as i really like this course. May never return on a weekend unless its first t time of the day.
Good value for a high handicapper
If its not windy, it's a nice course.. but warning, it's 5 hours on weekends, marshal's don't do much to speed up play... Its a nice track, greens were in pretty good condition (abit slow), but receptive ... I always liked the course design, but not real hard for a low handicap player... be suited for 15+ handicaps, and please if you are 15+, play from the White..
Too many players. Too slow. Nice fairways and greens. Glad heavy grasses were trimmed.
Tee Times were too closely booked, 4 mins apart. Waited on every hole. Some experienced players walked off. Others read books between holes. The course is nicer with heavy grass/weeds trimmed. Too many geese, but they have dogs and are addressing this...
nice course...but they are lazy
Was really confused and disappointed to see this course which i would say is on of the nicer public ones in the area...but theres 1 simple issue...THEY DONT MARK THE YARDAGES ON THE GOLF COURSE! Its a complete guessing game unless you are on the cart path next to one of the very few yardage markers on the course....you'll be lucky to guess within 20 yards of your distance AT BEST. If you don't have a distance range finder....i would seriously recommend to go play somewhere else.
Morning play is the best
Nice low cut fairways and fast greens is all you can ask for.
Challenging but fair.
Grass range is in excellent shape. For mid-summer, course was well maintained. Tee boxes were excellent, a few bare spots on fairways, and the greens were fairly smooth and moderately fast. Course is open with water in play on only two holes.
Well Maintained Course with Good Challenges
Very good links style course with open fairways, moderate hazards, good layout, and well maintained, rolling/tiered greens. The prevailing and usually moderate to strong winds are the element that constantly make for a challenging round. Fortunately, unlike British Open links courses, there are no pot bunkers.
Other plusses are a good driving range and fee based large short game practice area.
For those seeking even greater links style challenges, try Monarch Bay nearby.
A Gem Starts To Show Signs Of Wear
Salt leaching issues have crept up at Metro, much like past problems at nearby Monarch Bay, with fairly big expanses of dead or dying fairway areas. Greens are still in good condition and pace of play was much improved over the past when nearly six (6!!) hour rounds were not out of the question. Still lots of people playing from tee boxes not appropriate to their skill level. For the $63 price that includes cart, it's a pretty good value for a weekend and for the most part, it's that value and the challenge of the course will keep me as a customer.
Nice greens, well maintained. Fairways good too.
Nice greens, well maintained. Fairways good too. Nice breeze on hot days.
Good Deal for an Afternoon of Golf
Greens were all in real good shape. Played at 3:45 so a little wind as its close to the water but it was manageable. Good deal for only $29 with a cart. Enjoyable round of golf.
Overall, nice course !
Greens and fairways are usually in good condition..decent pace of play..good bar / food ..and people who work there are generally cordial ! good values to be had when booking on discount websites, otherwise kinda expensive when paying retail
Great course
Fast greens. Early bird gets a fast round. Great restaurant and food. Early morning reservation negates the wind factor during the afternoons.
Fun and Challenging Course
This course is a great place to play in the Bay Area, and is probably the best value for your money. In terms of golf risk/reward, Metro Golf Links provides the player with ample opportunity to test their metal. I will be frequenting this place again in the future.
Course is nice and not to challenging for a beginner golfer
Overall it was a great day to play at this course and the people who works here are very nice. I will definitely need to go back and play this course again.
Good track, particularly challenging in the wind.
This is my "go to" course in the east bay of the San Fran area. It has some "links" like attributes, particularly summer afternoons when the wind is hollowing off the bay. The greens are in good shape, running true. The course has a lot of play and could use better help from the marshalls to move the slower players along.
Overall good course if you like links
Good course, can get really windy. Greens were nice. Not worth playing at regular price though, there are nicer courses for cheaper.
