SLow pay on Sat
we ended up playing more than 6hours. Marshall helped to push the groups in front of us.
Greens are 8/10.
Best deal in the Bay Area. Course condition is 7/10 but the greens are very well maintained. That's what keeps me coming back .
Spring Golf
Course is in good shape, staff very friendly, pace of play is somewhat slow, but this is a problem with all public courses in Bay Area due to placing tee times too close to one another.
All in all a pleasant experience for the money..
First time OK experience
The weather held up ok, a few sprinkles off an on during five to six of the holes during the round. The tee boxes had four or five in good condition and fairly level, the rest were fairly chewed up, soggy at times and very un-level at times. The fairways had thin spots at times, and a large amount of divot damage, and many divots unfilled, when ever possible I filled them with the sand and seed mixed provided with the cart. The rough was mainly thin and few holes had 1 - 2 inch lush rough, but mainly thin with a fair amount of bare spots. The sand traps were very hard and somewhat thin and had standing water in at least ten of the traps I saw. The greens were inconsistent some very fast and some fairly slow, each had divot damage with many divot marks left untended, was busy with my divot tool fixing 3 - 4 each green.
Had a good Golf Now deal for $27.00, not sure if I would play this course again, and would not pay the full amount.
Great course
It was a bit challenging with all the rain and muddy areas. This course was recommended to us by numerous golfers that we got paired with at other courses. Because of the rain/clouds, couldn't check out all the views that others raved about. But the course was definitely one of the better ones we've tried since we came to visit. Restaurant kitchen closed early but I guess they're doing winter hours.
Slow Play
Only able to get complete 13 holes in 4 hours...... They are starting to improve course conditions with new sod areas which were bare before. (On the first 13 holes that I saw)
Very pleasant surprise with amazing greens
The greens were spectacular and the course was well maintained. Pace of play was pretty good too.
Well maintained for public links
Fairways, greens and tee boxes are maintained better here than at most public courses in the East Bay.
An added bonus is the practice range where you hit off grass rather than artificial turf.
nice greens and fun layout
Great course and wish they would work better on longer start times so the course would not have so many waits between holes.
course condition
course was in reasonably good condition for this time of year. Had a number of roped off areas for reseeding
Metro is always a good choice
I've never been disappointed at this course. It's our standby place to go when you can get a good deal from the course or Golfnow. The standard rate is high for this place. Because of our draught the course had a lot of GUR and brown spots. Conditions there are usually fine, the course has a good variety of holes and it's generally fun to play.
Friendly Staff
The Staff at Metro are great. They are super friendly and welcome any questions. If you're familiar with the area, the neighboring course Chuck Corica does not conduct themselves in the same manner. The Staff there are rude and any time I ask a question they give the vibe as if I'm bothering them. Happy to call Metro my home course.
Fun to play at Metropolitan Links
I played this course Sunday evening. The pace in front of us are not good, and slightly frustrated. But the course is well maintained, and enjoyed the course layout much.
good conditions
Greens are in great shape. They usually are from what I hear. They had a contest/drawing for players that fixed at least one ball mark per hole. Our group couldn't find any extra ones to fix. The groups in front fixed them all. Great idea for contest/drawing. They should do the same for fixing/filling divots in fairway.
Only complaint: Some holes still have roped off areas from 6 weeks ago.
Course is in great shape
I played on Veterans Day so there was a lot of people on the course, but the course was clean, although a lot of areas are being resodded. The greens were fast and in beautiful shape. I like this course and the open feel it has. I have played there about 5 times this last year and this was the most expensive it was at 49.00 with a cart for the holiday. Usually the prices are cheaper which make it a great value for the quality. I will be back soon.
Great Staff
Great staff, got stuck behind a slow group..........but one of ours was hacking away, so maybe a good thing, very good fell to the course, wide open, but man those greens were fast, overall would love to play again.
Solid golf course, winds make it challenging
Played back nine at sunrise. The course is in very good shape, the greens especially. The wind started to pick up at the end of the round close to 9am. The greens were firm even with the morning dew and water on the greens. I'd imagine they are quite firm in the afternoon. While long on the scorecard, the fairways roll out so the course didn't play particularly long from the tips.
A well-maintained Links course
The greens were well maintained. The fairways were spotty, with areas of brown spots, like they weren't getting enough water. The course is well laid out with some easy holes, and some very difficult approaches. Their tee suggestions depending on your handicap works well if you don't let your ego get in the way.
There are numerous environmentally sensitive areas where care should be taken if you lose your ball in these areas. As a rule you would not be allowed to go in to retrieve your ball.
I will definitely play this course again.
great deal
29 for 18 holes with cart and lunch was a great deal. Greens had just been punched and sanded the week before but they were just as good as some of the courses in the area. Pro shop staff is always polite and professional.
Great links course in the bay area.
Even with the Oakland Airport there, it does not take away any fun in playing there. Took a friend there who played there the first time. She loved the course.
