About
Editor's Note: Course closed and redesigned as Cabot Citrus Farms.
The Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club is one of two championship golf courses at the club. Named after the numerous pine trees that cover the course especially along the fairways, it feels far removed from the Florida coasts. Tom Fazio designed the course and it is considered not only some of his best work, but one of the best courses in the state. It is a tight golf course that is notorious for its vast waste areas and bunkers. Although it has a modest length of 7,259 yards, there is plenty of length within the layout with many of the par 4s stretching past 400 yards. There are two small lakes that come into play. The fourth hole is one of the most well known, and most photographed, in the state. It is a par 5 with a treacherous waste area dominating the right side all the way to the green.

World Woods is #1 in the region !! Photo submitted by webbknight on 09/21/2012
Awesome course with challenging layout
This was our first time playing this course upon recommendation from friends . It lived up to there hype. The only small negative was the greens were a bit slower than other course that we have. Even playing since we have been here in Florida for past month, made it brutal as the greens are tuff enough. Would go bac.
great views
This course will make you feel like you're on a vacation at a resort.
Course condition
Can't say enough about the staff. Great ! Got a great deal through golf now, but(maybe because of the time of the year) not worth around the $100 there asking otherwise. Would pay $50-$60 though. Some of the greens needs some work. Overall I had a great experience. Would come back.
It's the course, NOT the clubhouse
Okay, the entry drive and the clubhouse might be a bit off putting, but DO NOT let this deter you from playing this facility!
Only had time to play the Pine Barrens course, but the driving range and putting course, for warm-up, are gigantic and are fantastic.
The Pine Barrens course was the only one that we had time to play and this is definitely a DO NOT MISS!!
I've played many great courses in the US, Ireland, and Scotland, and this course has some of the most interesting holes that I've had the pleasure to play. Many times, course designers make the holes "goofy", in order to be "interesting." This ISN'T the case here. Many of the par 5's, 4's, and to a lesser extent the 3's are constructed in such a fashion to be REALLY interesting, but extremely fair, at the same time.
If you can find your way here, it is a MUST PLAY. I would like to have had the time to play the companion long course.
Unique golfing experience
Probably one of the best golf courses in Florida. Excellent design by Tom Fazio. Course is in great shape. Golf course with no homes on the course - an eye candy!
Excellent
We played Pine Barrens, excellent condition in fact it could not have been better. However, the service in the clubhouse bar area was not good. One of the lady servers was quite infererrnt.
Always a great track
It was chilly and a bit wet so the course was playing long but the conditions were excellent. Kudos to the management team for keep the conditions so nice. The greens were soft yet very fast. Fairways were in perfect condition. Amazing work guys! Will always keep both courses at WorldWoods on my must play list.
Great course
Pine Barrens is in great shape. Really enjoyed playing a few rounds here.
Pine Valley of the South
This is the second time I’ve played this course. From tee to green this course is in magnificent condition. The fairways give a fairly good amount of run-out off the drive. Off the tee, this course is very much a position course. Unfortunately, it takes playing the course a few times to know where to put it off the tee because if you’re off the fairway just a little and roll into waste”bunker” you are out of position. If you ever find yourself in a waste area here, think about getting out over being heroic and going for the green. Trying to go for too much can backfire and kill your score. These greens are superb - they run true and fast - and these are my favorite greens I’ve played so far. I highly recommend this course to all golfers!
The course layout is phenomenal.
Both courses at World Woods are fantastic. The fairways and greens were in great shape. These courses are a must play if you are in the area.
The coruse was in good shape.
The Pine Barron course was in good shape. The greens were true and fast. The fairways were green and slightly fluffy. It was a real treat to play the course for the first time. Would recommend this course to anyone.
Great layout
Greens were nice and undulating greens Fairways in great condition and the layout was very good. enjoyed it
This is a nice course.
I really enjoyed the course but it lacked some basic amenities for a course of its hype. No ball cleaners or hole layout plaques at the tee boxes. It was still a great course with plenty of room and scenery and well maintained greens.
An absolutely stunning golf course!
Got a last minute hot deal rate for $10 @ 12:47, had a $10 credit, so the round was free! Was back in my car at 3:30, a 2 hr. 40 min. Conditions were great, just a perfect day.
Fantastic course
Played Pine barrens for the second time and certainly not disappointed. The only slight negative was the overseeding that had been done about a week before but this did not detract from what is a truly beautiful golf course or our enjoyment of it.
In my opinion there is something wrong with you if you do not love this place. I have played and caddied at many golf courses in the states and europe and this is the course i look forward to returning to more than any other. The design is brilliant for both high handicapper and scratch player and you want to photograph every hole when standing on the tee and thenonce more when you look back from behind the greens.
Playing here is one of those experiences you will always remember whether you play well or not so well.
