About
Editor's Note: Course closed and redesigned as Cabot Citrus Farms.
Rolling Oaks is one of two championship courses at World Woods Golf Club. The layout offers something completely different from the renowned Pine Barrens course at the club, but it still offers the same amount of challenge and quality. The golf course is named after its landscape of rolling hills and forests of centuries old Oak trees draped with Spanish moss. Lush, rolling fairways lead to undulating greens that are protected by sharply defined, white sand bunkers. Water hazards come into play on three holes. The golf course has a traditional design but the dramatic elevation changes and picturesque landscape covered in azaleas, dogwoods, and magnolia trees really make it stand out. In addition to the two golf courses, World Woods also offers a nine-hole practice course and a circular, 20-acre driving range with target greens and practice bunkers.

This is me on one of the more difficult par 5's. If you play it and your a long ball, play it to the right fairway...You can make it...Lol.. Photo submitted by Robert5455343 on 11/16/2013

Oaks
this is by far the better of the 2 courses ....greens and fairways are heads and shoulders above the other course ,,,ive played this course 3 times in last 2 weeks and look forward to playing there again soon ...
Beauty
One of the most beautiful courses in Florida. Not quite up to its sister course in challenge or green speed but awesome
Never disappoints
I am never disappointed by either course at World Woods. Rolling Oaks is in great shape right now.
challanging, scenic, 180 degrees different than typical .fl course
Totally different from World Woods Pine Barrens. Big undulating greens with a different Bermuda type. Many elevation changes with the beauty of large live oaks with Spanish moss hanging from the limbs.
2nd nine really tough with most having doglegs involving avoiding large live oaks. A refreshing walk through a great course.
Worth the Trip
In spite of it being overcast...very cool...lite rain at times...what a nice layout. The staff in the pro shop...starter...and even the guy who greets you in the lot...they make you feel welcome to be there. The course layout...conditions of the fairway and greens...the slopes of the greens and the hilly terrain make for a great golf course. Condition of waste areas are what you would expect...but overall...great track.
must play
its a must play for anyone who plays golf.I used to play there quite abit and this is the best condition I have seen it in the course was completly flawless the superintendent is doing a perfect job on upkeep I havent played the pine barrens in a long time which was my favorite course of the two.recomendation play the tees according to your handicap if you dont you will have a long round. Now that Im somewhat healed from my motorcycle accident and walking across the road and getting hit by a car speeding car i will be playing there once to two times a week cant wait to play the pine barrens again more challenging than rolling oaks but oaks is in flawless condition so will play both courses!
Excellent
Great course and conditions. Greens were true and fast! Will definitely play again.
if you happen to like five and a half hours round of golfthen this place is for you but not me
I played the 4 times in one week not less than 5 hours for a round of golfand they thought that was acceptable
World Woods-Brookville
Staff are really not that friendly or outgoing at this facility. People come to play the course. The course itself needs work as bunkers are always in bad shape. Leaves are not picked up which causes delay in play as if you deviate off the fairway it takes time to find the ball and pace of play is poor!
A must Play
Very Nice course !!! Will be back again !!! Played with my Father and both of us enjoyed this course !
Not worth the money or the travel from Tampa to get there
It's built in the 80s they never took care of the club house, the landscaping around the course is bad, the cart paths are broken, the greens are grainy and hard pack, the bunkers are overfilled and super soft. It's cart path only bc of over seeding without a discount. Course was worth it 15 years ago but not now! Seriously you can't buy a can of paint to clean up even the doors? The course needs epic amount of work to get healthy again. Courses in this region are not cared for like Orlando resort courses for the same price
In need of tlc
I have played Rolling Oaks many times over the last 7 years. This latest round left me somewhat disappointed with the general condition of the course. On at least 2 occasions my ball landed in someone else's fairway divot - very annoying! In short, the course has been overplayed and is in need of some tlc.
Rolling Oaks
The course was in excellent shape. Afternoon play was slow toward the end of the round. Food and beverage operations need examination. Seems to be understaffed.
Course great/Rangers and Starers, not so much
Played Rolling Oaks as Pine Barrens was closed for over seeding. Our 3 some played 36 holes on a trip we planned months ago. The day would have been great had it not been for the power hungry Rangers. We were the first group of the day and upon arrival at the first tee we see 20 or so golfers. The starter moved us ahead of the group and things were good to go. After 5 or 6 holes, of which no other group ever caught up to us, the "ranger" approached us and says "as of now you guys are 10 minutes behind schedule".. We say ok and keep playing. 2 holes later he says" you are now 15 minutes behind and you need to pick up the pace, the course is starting to back up behind you." Again, the closest the group behind us ever got to our 3 some(there were all 4 somes behind us) was on the tee when we were on the green on the par 4s..
If we were the ones backing things up, I would have been fine with his comments, but to address our group twice when we clearly never held anyone up was just rude and ignorant on his part. Ruined my day as I felt rushed they rest of the way as he was constantly driving by us..
We had lunch there, portions were small and I asked for a Hot Roast Beef sandwich, and it was a cold cut sandwich..the waitress was polite and took it back to have it reheated, it came out blackened on the outsides and still cold in the middle with the cheese still not melted, wings were small, and dry and the beers we were brought were in cans and we were not given glasses.
.. Our 2nd round was slow. We went to the first tee, to check in, you cant even get a score card here until you check in with the starter.. The starter told us we would follow the 3 some on the tee ...A twosome came up after us and jumped in front of us in line, the starter says "they re gonna go in front of you, they play here every Monday"....So its a 3 some, the 2 some he let in front of us, our 3 some and then another 2 some behind us...Waiting on every hole for 18 holes..
2 guys at the blocked off cart drop, that your are extremely forbidden from taking the carts out to the parking lot, looked at their watches as we pulled up, asked if anyone was behind us, never offered to unload our carts or give any help..They just started counting cars in the parking lot...
The course is very serene, zero houses on the entire property and its very peaceful and a natural golfing experience, turkeys, 2 different kinds of squirrels, hawks(that we saw try to scoop up one of the gray squirrels).. The fairways are nice, bunkers well taken care of, only one green out of the 18 wasn't in perfect condition...The staff was friendly except for the Ranger. There seems to be a "good ole boy" vibe in the whole place..You get a lot of long looks if you under the age of 50 as if you don't belong here. And if you are a local and possibly retired, you seem to get special treatment, But the course itself is amazing as is the Pine Barrens course when I played it a few years ago..Great practice facility as well, short course, practice course and a circular driving range and putting course as well...If you don't mind the uncomfortable looks and the rudeness from The Ranger, you will enjoy the golf part of the venue.
Great rolling terrain
Greens were smooth and quick.great overall experience
Another excellent outing
Course was in great shape, even with nearly a week of heavy raining.
worth the drive
Both courses are in great condition. They have been pounded with rain and are both still really nice. I highly recommend World Woods. Rolling Oaks is my favorite of the two.
always worth the drive
Fairways and greens in excellent condition. This is a top notch facility which is always worth the trip from Clearwater. This course challenges you from tee to green. You need to pay close attention to pin placements because the undulations can produce a three putt quite easily.
Total golfing experience
As always when playing golf at World Woods one will find it an excellent golfing experience. I chose to play Rolling Oaks on this day even though the course was undergoing "course maintenance".. I only wish other golf courses knew how to conduct "course maintenance" as well as the World Woods staff. It was a pleasure to play a perfectly groomed golf course with absolutely no intrusions by the course maintenance crew. The greens had undergone aerification and top dressing and putted slower than normal but that was due more to the excessive amount of rain in the area an inabilities to mow all greens as short as they usually do; however, they rolled very true and one only had to adjust their putting stroke in order to enjoy the round.
The food in the clubhouse is excellent and the wait staff do a very nice job. Overall, it was a great day to play golf on an outstanding golf course. The weather was very hot and humid but that is summer in Florida so just stay hydrated and enjoy. I look forward to returning to World Woods in the very near future.
