About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Flags
The course was setup very challenging. The flags were tucked in behind bunkers. I can see if they were there on 6 holes but they had stuck many in that position. It was windy and that didn’t help matters. Needless to say I was landing in a few bunkers and not all bunkers have a good amount in them. The fairways are very good with any ground under repair marked. The greens have mended nicely since turf maintenance earlier. If you play, you should enjoy Candler Hills.

The course was in very good condition. Staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the layout. There is a nice bar/ restaurant for a post round drink

I payed $35 through tee-off. Great deal. Would I pay $50 & up, no.
Fun times
The course is in really good condition, though the greens are pretty soft. The layout makes it fair for both beginners and more advanced players. The pin positions were in difficult spots with lots of slope. I always enjoy this course.
conditions
Sand bunkers need sand---very hard under a layer of 2* of sand. the greens are mending from maintenance. Greens 11 and 18 will need special attention to be up to par. Fairways are the best around for this time of year and the amount of their rounds.

Beautiful everything. Just enough elevation to make it not your typical Central Florida golf course. Bunker placement is original and inventive.
Left playing this course. Everything about it was extremely well maintained. Bunkers were sharply cut airways were sharply cut the rough was about three times as long as a fairway and and consistent. Greens were smooth as can be and ran a nice speed. This time of year it had a fantastic piece of play. Will be returning soon.
