About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Course is in great shape!
Greens are great and fast!
Pace of play was good. Four hours
Really enjoyed the layout!
Friendly Fun and Fair
Good service all round , Friendly from the Bag drop , Pro Shop . Starter And in the dinning room . No complaints .
Enjoyed the holes , Generous Fairways , large sloping greens with good pace , Lots of well maintained bunkers . A good test for all . We played at 6,000 yards from blue tees , but if you went to the back tees 7233 in length , be a test . .Number 4 Plays 662 from the tips , stay below the hole . For our first round in Florida this year very pleased .

Tee time was 2:20. With the pace of play, it was far too late to complete the round before sunset (6 PM). Wind had nothing to do with pace of play.
Starter said, although first tee was open for 20 minutes, I wasn't allowed to go due to GolfNow rules.
Ranger said the slow pace of play was due to the tournament running late.
I suggest GolfNow: Candler Hills/GolfNow guarantee complete round or not bother to offer such late tee times. Or not offer any times when tournaments are played. Ranger had said this problem has happened before.
A bit out of the way
Excellent course layout and conditions. Members want to know how I found it.
This course is in the top 3 of courses in the Ocala area. The greens and fairways were beautiful to play on. If you putted below the hole you 1or2 putts, above the hole 2 to 3 putts.. lots of sand but nice to hit out of. My only beef was the group ahead of us, gave them a hole and a half head start and caught up to them at the 3rd hole. Waited almost 10 minutes a hole the rest of the way. Told they were 2 holes open in front of them , of course they were members and nothing was going to be said
Strict timeline for tee off despite being early and made to wait 15 minutes with 2 holes open ahead and another 5 minutes to wait for another 2some scheduled to join us.
