About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Amazing Course and Staff
From the time you arrive and when you leave you will have a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Every employee from pro-shop, cart assistant, starter, and cart person was professional with great customer service.
The course is in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, green side bunkers, and greens are excellent. They make up for having no water hazards on the course with plenty of fairway sand bunker so be prepared to use a less lofted club to get you to your target. The rough can be challenging. The grass is fluffy and cut just high enough to swallow your ball. Be prepared to spend some time trying to find your ball even if hit slightly left or right of the fairway. A more lofted club, a steep downward blow to the ball with a slightly open face will get you back to the fairway but maybe not to your target.
If you have a chance to play Candler Hills, take the opportunity. You will not be disappointed.
Reliably Good Course
Played here several times, and Candler remains in great shape. It is a very forgiving course, with no water and "rough" that is very playable. The difficulty comes with length, not course conditions or "tricks". Would like to make this my home course, but not close enough to home, but close enough to play there several times per year.

Candler hills is a favorite of mine and once I saw the deal I could not resist. Staff was super friendly, course was in amazing condition. And for the price you can’t beat it. I will always recommend this course and visit when I can!

A Central Florida Treat!
I live in The Villages (TV) and Candler Hills is a refreshing change from the championship courses in TV. Chandler's greens are a bit faster and much smoother than TV's. I played with a Candler Hill member (a friend) who helped with course knowledge (worth several strokes). There were a few places in the fairways where there was more crabgrass than bermuda, but very few. Over all, this is a great course to play. The pace of play was faster than I'm used to in TV, also and we were waiting on many shots for the foursome in front of us. Happily, they let us play thru midway into the 2nd nine holes. We finished 18 in well under 4 hours.

Great course
Love the layout and condition of Candler Hills. Woman friendly. The CH patio is perfect for great food and drinks after also!

Always Enjoyable
Course in excellent condition. A bit wetter than normal but eminently playable. 90° rule in force. Played one tee box up (Blue/White). Bermuda rough was penalizing even though it was not much deeper than a ball diameter. Typical for bermuda rough.
