About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Great Course
Candler Hills is the nicest course in the Ocala area. It is not easy and I guarantee every golfer, you will find sand. But, with that said, the course if FAIR. Plenty of room to aim away from the bunkers. Course is in great shape. I was in a threesome, sandwiched between two foursomes and played in an incredible 3 hrs and 15 min Flew through our round, but NEVER rushed. Love this place. Staff (Big Dave) incredible. Happy Hour is a must afterwards. Only gave 5 stars because I couldn’t give 10.
The course was in great shape, the pace of play was good, only waited a few times. Would highly recommend this course!
Friendly, Fair Middle of the road course
Relatively simple layout, lots of bunkers (most not in play) however make this pretty looking golf course. Good shape, greens are good, tricky to putt. Pace of play good. Recommended for a fun & easy day of golf.
Grwat course coming back nicely from fall grooming. Greens rolling nice after aeration last month. Course will be great in another month. Still nicer than most right now.
Beautiful LONG course
Candler Hills is just a beautiful course. Plays very long. Surprisingly there were a few scant bald places in fairways but overall not usual Florida fairways. Rough is semi high which makes it a difficult lie to get out of. Greens were rolling well. Not super fast but maybe a bit faster than others. Course layout is nice but there is no danger or difficulty that one has to manage. Only one or two dog legs but be warned there is sand. Lots of sand.
Generally it was a nice day. Again it’s a very pretty course.
