About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Amazing experience!!
This was my first time playing the course, and it was amazing. The rate was fair if not on the low side for such a quality course. Though it is not crazy long (depending on the tee boxes used) , you have to make shots ALL day long. I played, not so great, but still had a blast. I will be back.
Nice track
I was very happy with Candler Hills. The staff were very friendly and the course was in great shape. I will be back despite the 48 mile drive.
Greens are not good for rolling the ball. They need another two weeks to heal. Should not have played. Too many 3 putts and chipping was not good.
Greens
They have been working on the greens and currently they will need two more week before the ball will roll properly due to their healing.. The 11th and 17th greens are suffering again. Right now you do not get the normal roll on the fairways.
Great course even after aeration
Played this course even though it had just been aerated. Course in great shape even with all the rain lately in florida. Greens were a little bumpy but too be expected following aeration. I have played this course for 10+ years and it's always in good shape. The restaurant and bar are also a great place to get a drink and food especially during happy hour.
Been aerated and fairways thatched. Still a great course. Will be in super shape very soon. Will be back.
Horrific
We have played this course multiple times over the years and always enjoyed our rounds. However this time was very different. Golfnow did have an aerification alert and we were prepared for that. After the first hole we realized that the entire course had been punched and sanded, tee boxes, fairways, and greens. To say the whole course was unplayable would be an understatement. Needless to say, we will not be making the hour and a half trip back to Candler Hills again.
Round
Very nice course: it was very nice of the staff to reach out to me after I booked online to inform me that the greens had just been aerated. Typical this time of year.
Great course always in good shape
This course is always in great shape. Perfect for retirees, wide fairways, no water and few obstacles. The bar and restaurant are also great for a drink or two afterwards. Good food is priced reasonably. Happy hour 3 to 6 .
Always great conditions
Course is in excellent condition (as always). Several tees so can challenge any golfer. I played green at just short of 6600 and it was a good test - especially a few 200 yard 3’s.

A great course always in excellent shape and the restaurant if also a great place for food and drink afterward.
A course that you will want to play again.
From a very friendly staff to a well maintained course, the playing experience was excellent.
