About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Beautiful Shape, Greens perfect
Excellent condition, very well maintained. Staff professional and courteous. Course designed well for quick pace of play. Nice size fairways, debris removed and roughs clear for locating wayward shots. Greens perfect. Played a round of golf (3 some) less than 3.5 hours. Highly recommend.

An outstanding test of golf
We thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Candler Hills, which is an outstanding layout and In superb condition. We received a friendly welcome from all the staff and cannot wait to play the course again and perhaps have time for a meal afterwards In their restaurant.

Course in good shape. Pace of play was a little slow.
Candler Hills Consistently Very Good
Fairways and Greens Above average. Pace slower than normal due to 4some of male members playing too slow on greens. Ranger passed us twice but seemed uninterested in the slow group.
All staff friendly and helpful.
Wonderful layout
Great value very difficult to lose golfballs.
You've got to be a horrific player to do so.
A joy to play.
As good as it gets
We play all over the country and pay up to 150.00 to play great courses. Granted Candler does not have a classic layout or bulkheaded Par 3's over water, but the conditions today were as Good as any we have ever played anywhere. Perfect rough, greens, bunkers and surrounds. Perfect.
Great Course
The course is in great shape and the staff are super friendly. Definitely playing here again.
Solid golf course
The entire facility is organized to provide a great golf experience. The staff was a little standoffish, but polite. The course does not presnt any surprises. The course is right in front of you. You have to play the shot or pay the penalty of the numerous bunkers that are well maintained. The greens were in a state of repair from the summer maintenance regimen. I predict that they will be excellent for the winter season. I recommend that you play this course.
Fun and challenging as always.
I always enjoy playing here. I usually do an early tee time (7:30am or so), and I always get paired with very nice and accommodating members. Course was in good shape overall. Fairways and bunkers are in good shape. Greens have almost recovered from maintenance but were recently sanded, making putts a little more challenging. Definitely enjoyed the round, and will be back soon.

Very nice course...but
Very nice course. Good layout. Good conditions. One of the best around. Rangers very nice. Been here a few times and the people inside pro shop have been less than nice. Had a 1:00 tee time and got there around 12:10. Asked if we could go out early and they said sure, 12:50. Nobody on the course and nobody on the first tee. Just sat there and waited. Looked online and they had open tee times up until 1:00. Checked again if we could go out and the pro shop just said no. Very weird. Rains came after 14 holes so those 40 minutes would have been nice to have back.
Overall very nice course and rangers always driving around with ice. Not a fan of management and not in a rush to come back.
Not to be missed
The course was in great shape. I don't think anybody else was on the course. (We had a 1PM Tee ). The starter asked when did we want the beverage cart to come and it came exactly when we asked for it. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant and bar after the round.
