On the Classic Club's scenic landscape, golfers will find a wide variety of trees including olive trees, towering pines, and California pepper, but unlike the many other golf courses in Palm Springs, there isn't a single palm tree. The Classic Club opened in 2006 to much acclaim and has since garnered a following amongst locals and visitors. Formerly a host site for the Bob Hope Classic, the challenging layout has an interesting mix of tour-worthy holes including intimidating par 3s balanced by reachable par-5s and short par-4s. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The back nine begins with a memorable stretch of holes. The par-4 10th is a tight driving hole with an elevated green and the 11th hole requires a shot over water. The stretch ends with the par-3 12th, which also plays over water to a well protected green.

hot day in the desert

Classic club is a challenging course with trouble everywhere. To score well you need to hit your targets.

The fairways had burnt patches which is expected in the hot summer but it didnt effect play that much. Greens rolled well. The $110 regular rate seems high for June compared to some greener courses in town. Luckily we got a $62 rate on teeoff. Overall, a fun time.

Great Service

We enjoyed the course very much. Some of the grass had been lost to summer heat but did t effect the play at all. The value is in the service. Got a food voucher and free towel along with friendly helpful service. Will play again for sure

Best in the Desert

Weather was great early in the morning, course played perfectly today. Every aspect was as good as could be: Greens were perfect; Bunkers soft and mostly raked, there were some lazy players ahead; All the fairway and rough grass was spectacular... Can't wait to play again!

Top notch golf course

Played here for the first time. Will definitely be back! Very impressed with the facility from bag drop to finish. Course conditions overall was excellent with many water features coming into play on most holes. I got very familiar with water hazards this day. Hopefully I can stay more dry next time or I may have to bring my swimming trunks. LOL. I got a tee time that did not include the free logo towel and meal voucher ($35 value extra). But I was able to grab a couple of divot tools and ball markers (made of metal) with the course logo on it. This is a very nice touch and makes this club stand apart from even the pga west courses. Give this course a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Classic Club tourney day

First time, great course and layout. But……. there was an SCGA tourney earlier that day, and we got backed up on hole 6 with 4 other groups. Staff should have tourney finish before starting other groups. We left after 12 holes. Too slow.

Best public course in Southern California

Classic Club is very impressive with excellent conditions, a great layout and top quality staff. As a Member of Torrey Pines and having played PGA West many times, my overall rating is slightly above these fantastic golf courses.

Better than Public PGA West!

Don't get me wrong, I love all the courses at PGA West, Classic Club is simply nicer. I played in a sand storm, ugh!, but I still could appreciate the excellence of the course. I'm a Member at Torrey Pines, and I've played Pelican Hill. For a public course, this is the finest in California.

Snack bar wasn’t open when we were done. The restaurant had open seats but only one person could come in and the lady at the front desk at the restaurant was rude. Which is a shame because overall the course is awesome

Great layout

One of these public courses around. Can get windy and dusty. White tees are plenty for mid handicapper.
