Nice Pro Shop and Club House with Grill Photo submitted by Russell6471525 on 03/29/2013
Thanks to the gamblers at Horseshoe great facility!
A great facility that is maintained well. Greens are always running fast.
Course in best ever condition
Been playing the course at least annually since its opening.
It is in the best condition ever. Fairways and greens are great.
Going to get back there before year is over!
Fun challenging test of golf
Great test if golf. The course conditions were excellent and the service were 1st class.
Wonderfully fun and challenging course
Conditions were ideal. Greens were firm and very fast, as they were last time I played. Chariot Run has some great design features reminiscent of seaside links courses. Few trees, exposure to the wind, heather, rough scraggly-edged bunkers, greens which flow into closely-mown collection areas, and one giant sod-faced bunker on hole 6.
The greens are the real challenge here. You can hit all the fairways and greens and 3 putt your way to 80. Bring your short game and you'll have a chance to score well. It should be fun no matter how you play.
Excellent course in great condition
My wife and I played this course for the first time in July and couldn't wait to return.
Nice course, if you can get a deal.
Just played here today for the first time. I really like the layout and the style of the course. While a lot of the holes were in great shape several were very beat up with divots all over the fairways. We got a 50% off rate from golfnow so that was fine, but if I had paid full price I'd be very disappointed.
Practice facilities are great. Nice size driving range (with free range balls!), separate chipping green and putting green, all the practice areas fairly represented the course.
Greens today were VERY fast. I like playing on fast greens, but this was a bit extreme, my normal 6ft putt went about 15ft all day. The green speed rating at the pro shop was 10.9 (not sure what that means, but apparently its fast). Fairways were short and gave a lot of roll. Bunkers were varied of soft and fluffy to hard and packed. Rough was pretty consistent 2-3" cut and not too thick.
Overall it was pretty good. I shot a little below average on the front and a little over on the back. Not bad for the first time on a course. Will likely go back next season.
Great condition overall and challenging for every level of player
The course condition was exactly what I expected of a resort course. I loved that it was not in a residential area as is typical in most Kentucky courses I play. The greens were fast and well maintained which made it challenging. The undulation of the manicured fairways ensured you played just about every club in your bag. The rough was not too long and punishing, and the fringe around the green was a nice touch. Main tip for this course is stay in the short grass and you could score your lowest score this season. Lastly, the staff was very cordial and professional. I would recommend this course to friends and other golfers.
Worth the drive, but it is a drive!!!
I have played this course many times over the years and it never fails to impress. Very rare to find bentgrass fairways in this area. Always deep green and well tended. Greens are the fastest and truest around. If you are not used to them, you will ram many putts by the hole you felt would come up short. And you better be accurate. So many of the fairways are lined w/ waist deep heather. You will NOT find your ball so hit a provisional and move on. Sand is very coarse and the edges of the bunkers are rugged and have the look of seaside British Open courses. Very nice range and staff.
This course stretches out longer than most mortals play so make sure you look at the yardage and pick the appropriate tees to play from. You will have a much more enjoyable round. Overall, just a wonderful golf course.
Difficult course
This course is more difficult than most courses I have played. Perhaps it was designed to be so. I would only recommend it to the players that want a real challenge. I will not be going back. If you are not straight all the time, you are in trouble. You must be very good at marking you ball or plan on taking a lot of penalty shots.
Excellent golf course! Highly recommended! 5 stars!
Great golf course! Very scenic, and loved the mix of elevation changes! Nice combination of modern "faux-links style" holes, and a few tree-lined "parkland, old-school style" holes. Generous fairway width, but plenty of challenges, even for the better player - and very challenging for the Average Joe. Not the least of those challenges is the wind...
The bentgrass fairways and greens were for the most part in excellent shape - well maintained. The rough was, well, rough - but that's how it's supposed to be! I did notice, however, that not many players bothered to fill in their divots with the divot mix provided; not an indictment of the course and its staff - it's the player's responsibility to help take care of the course.
Pace of play was OK. Would've been perfect, had not the threesome ahead of us been playing from the blue tees when they didn't have the games for that set of tees. Can't fault the staff for that though - how do you enforce it, without rushing to snap judgments, or following a group around all day? I've worked in customer relations myself, and if ya pays yer money.....
The staff gave us the royal treatment upon our arrival. I couldn't have been more pleased.
Well worth the $$ and the 150-mile one-way trip from Hamilton County! I'll definitely play there again!
Excellent course with lots of challenging holes.
A very fair and fun course to play. Several sets of tees allow for enjoyment by all players. Pleanty of water, sand & the tall fescue grass makes it a challenge for any player. The greens were very nice & putted true. Will definitely try to do a return trip.
Employees are arrogant & rude.
Course is highly overrated! The greens are cut too short & the employees are rude.. There are many many other courses in Southern Indiana which cost far less and are overall better places to play!
REALLY FUN COURSE TO PLAY
PLAY THIS COURSE ONE TIME A YEAR FOR MY SONS
BIRTHDAY. WISH WE COULD PLAY IT MORE.
Parkland golf at it's best
I've played Chariot a few times and this time was the best shape I've seen it in. The greens were fast but not hard, the fairways rolled great and the rough was penal. The staff was friendlier this time too!
Great times
Course was in great shape. Fantastic way to start the weekend on a Friday afternoon.
GREAT COURSE!!! Speedy Greens...
I live about 15 miles from the course, but had never played it until yesterday. The greens are like glass and took a little getting used to. I also decided on the 3rd hole to keep the driver n the bag until the back 9. This course is very challenging and will make you play smart golf. If you are one of those players who has trouble keeping the Driver straight...make sure and take some extra balls because the rough is ROUGH...the Heather Grass will swallow you ball if you spray your tee shots...I will be going back very soon.
Great Links Golf
In great shape and very challenging. The greens are firm and fast, so be ready for some interesting putts. A hidden gem in the middle of no where.
Open Championship Golf
Wanted to play some links golf and wasn't disappointed. Course was in great shape as usual and the greens were slick. Very challenging round
One of the best around
I usually play on zoysia grass, so coming to Chariots is always a challenge (taking divots). The greens are some of the best I have played on. I would compare this course to Valhalla except without all the expense. It can get a little slow out there due to losing balls in the tall grass. You really have to stay in the fairway to have any chance of scoring.
Absolutely the best value for the money possible.
This place is awesome. It is super challenging but if you place the ball well low scores are possible.
