Excellent course!!

Brilliant course to play! Excellent variety of holes and the greens are in excellent condition. Excellent value for money. They only thing I would say is you get a lot of non golfers walking on the course with dogs etc (more so than what I have experienced on other courses) and they might not realise that you are looking to hit where they are walking. Happened quite a few times but I guess that will come with the course being in a built up area. I will definitely be back soon!

Great wee course

For a public course it is in better than many private ones. Greens were true and had plenty of grass. Lots of work done over the off season to improve drainage. All for a tenner!

Mountaineering

Thankfully it was cheap, played this course 30 years ago and did not remember it being so hard on the legs. After speaking to a course worker I knew why. The course layout has been changed to make it easier for the local pensioners club to play, they play on a Tuesday and Thursday and only play the least demanding 12 holes. That may be ideal for them but not for the average golfer. I assure you that you would require a high level of fitness to climb the mountains and a special high loft club for one par 3 hole which without exaggeration is like trying to land a shot on the roof of a 3 storey building with sloping sides, if you fall short you land in foot high rough on the front face of this cliff. Safe to say I will not be heading back there. Strange that a municipal course which is supposed to be for the whole community has been adapted for a small minority.

Nice course spoiled by lack of staff

We played a four ball game in slightly windy but pleasant conditions. The first few holes seemed nice; good greens and decent layout. However, once we moved to the next holes we passed from the sight of the club house. The course has appeared very quiet but this changed dramatically. We had been informed on arrival that there would be no one playing behind us. After the fourth hole a two-ball appeared behind us however the layout was confusing so we did not realise this. A single golfer appeared by the tee-box who was on his phone with a large joint in his mouth. Throughout the round he seemed to hit the ball on the same few holes. This was very distracting and was difficult to establish the speed of our game. The two-ball behind us had obviously just snuck onto the course at hole 4, this was a recurrent theme of the course. We let the two-ball play through and another man appeared from the bushes and began playing with them. Later on in the Rond they had invited two children to hit tee shots and now they were a 6-ball. This slowed us down considerably. This was a good course ruined by a number of people who had not booked tee-times and just wandered on. I would only play this course again very early morning to avoid the crowds.
