Chester Washington Golf Course

This place is great but for the price the pace of play should be a lot better. They also make you go with 5 people

Sometimes because they want to combine tee times. They should never do this it makes everything take a lot longer and almost ensures people won’t come back.

This course could be a hidden gem if it wanted to be. The layout is actually a good challenge that lets you hit multiple types of shots. The issue is the greens. It was diabolical with the lack of care. I can understand a city course running slower, that’s fine… these felt like it was almost impossible to sink a putt with how bumpy and inconsistent they were. The overgrowth on the cups showed me they hadn’t had a new cup cut in a couple days which meant the hundreds of foot impressions around the holes made a ball do very strange things if it was on target. If the greens got fixed I’d recommend this course to anyone.

Staff is super friendly.

Pace of play is terrible. Three stacked on every tee box.

Took exactly 3 hours to play 9 holes......had to quit after 9 even though I paid for 18.

Ok course and conditions and a friendly vibe but can't tolerater 6 hour rounds.

Finally got a good rate and a well paced afternoon round here. They even let me go 15 mins early. Unfortunately, the greens were very very bad. Almost as if one of the machines scraped grooves into all of them. Use of word of mouth for future conditions, I don’t know how long recovery will take.

It gets really busy and there were no carts available so we had to wait around... There were too many people in the Hole #1 and the practice putting area, and nowhere to sit and wait because there were no carts. The course condition was okay.... fairway not so good, but green area was fine. The starter named Andre was very friendly with a big smile and that was pretty much the highlight of my golf day..

Course is decent for a muni. The layout and length of the course is pretty good.

Cons - plays extremely slow on weekends, chunky unkept greens bad for putting, long grass off the fairway so be prepared to hit a decent shot and still not find your ball

Good muni for the cost. Played on a Monday afternoon for $57, including cart. Was late for our tee time (ride share had issues on the way) and course staff was understanding and helpful and was still able to get us out fairly quickly. Course is 7 miles or so from LAX (without a lot of airport noise) and is a great spot if you’re looking to get in a round before departing LA.

Course contortions were pretty good. Lots of green, good tee boxes, fairways and rough. Greens aren’t bad but some are a little bumpy.

Pace of play wasn’t ideal. Our round was 5-5.5 hours. Early in the round we didn’t have to wait at all but after hole 5 we were consistently waiting.

Overall this is a course worth playing. Just give yourself a little extra time for anything you have planned after.

- the sand traps could use some TLC very hard packed and not raked

Don’t play unless you want to be there for 8 hours.
