Rams Hill Golf Club

I almost didn't play this because some reviews said not for beginners. I play from the forward tees and this course was very doable for me. In fact, I had one of my better scores. The layout is interesting and challenging. Choose your tees wisely. I played with two guys who hit from the tips. They swere good golfers who knew what they were doing, and hit mostly bogeys and some pars. So know your skill level and play from the right tees. The greens played VERY fast until the last hole, which was really slow. We were lucky with the weather which was perfect and not windy.

There were definitely patches of dirt in the fairways, which was disappointing for a course of this quality. I got a hot deal for $115 less the $10 golfpass credit brought my total to $105. I wouldn't want to pay much more than that because I've played better courses for much less than Ram's HIll full price (e.g., Black Jack's in Texas, Black Mesa in NM, Coeur d'Alene resort in Idaho).

Then there's the Ram Shack at the turn. Only thing better than a good taco is a free taco and these are loaded with enough meat to make 8 tacos. The cookie at the end is a nice touch.

I would play again if I am in the area and got a hot deal. Would not necessarily drive out of my way to play this course.

Course had a few rough spots, but the layout is as good as the PGA West courses. Played gold tees and had a lot of 180-210 yard shots into the greens. A good challenge, but nothing impossible. Greens are multi tiered, but so wide that you can’t really short side yourself. Tee shots required precision as there were lots of strategic fairway bunkers. Fun course, but out of the way for most people. Still think it’s worth the price (and travel)!

I have been wanting to come out to this course for some time. I booked a Stay-and-Play package. We stayed at the Nook and were very pleased with the comfort of the accommodations.

THE COURSE:

This is a jewel of a layout, just the right amount of difficulty. The condition of the course was perfect, from tee to green I was continually commenting on the near perfect aspects of the course. My congratulations to the crew that has made this a very special jewel in the desert. We played two days and definitely the second day I was picking different lines off the tee box.

THE STAFF:

I want to make sure to point out the stellar service received while on property. First and foremost I want to give a huge shoutout to Chantel the restaurant manager. She has a keen sense of detail and made sure that we were taken care of. She exemplifies services and she set the tone for an amazing weekend. Next is Bill (Mr. Canada), he was one of the best and most personable starters I have encountered. You could tell that he loved his role in our amazing experience. Carla in the Pro Shop continued the experience. Super nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. Last but not least, the resident mixologist Ron made sure to mix amazing cocktails and share knowledge of the area.

THE TAKEAWAY:

Plan a stay and play package out in the desert at this Jewel. You will not be disappointed. Thanks to everyone for making this an epic experience.

Let me set the stage. My wife and I decided to book a Play and Stay package. We stayed at the Nook and were very comfortable. The accommodations were top notch. We booked two rounds and also had plans for dinner at the club.

The Course:

This is an epic track, the course was in immaculate condition and every shot played was from a lush tee box or fairway. The greens rolled perfectly. The course is a fair test with options. After playing the first day I could think my way around the course a bit better. I look forward to coming back and matching my game against the course.

The Experience:

From the first tee to the 19th hole, the.people are what made this a one of a kind experience.

First off I would like to call out the exceptional food at the club but overshadowing the great food was Chantal the restaurant manager. She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and this level of service is to be applauded. Next I would like to call out Ron, the amazing bartender who absolutely know how to mix a drink. Super personable and the views from the bar are exceptional. The pro shop is stocked full of great items and the Carla was fantastic. The starter on Saturday was a gentleman name Bill I believe (from Canada). One of the best starters in the business. Oh, can’t forget the Ram Shack and the amazing service and complimentary tacos. Perfect for a day on the course.

The overall theme of this adventure was that every person on that facility went out of there way to make sure you enjoyed the experience. We will be back soon and I can’t wait to get a guys weekend together as well at this jewel in the desert. Thank you all for such an amazing experience.

Played Rams Hill for first time: exceeded high expectations. Very relaxed but efficient service on arrival. Excellent practice facilities with ProV1 ballls.

Course has been set up beautifully by Tom Fazio with challenges for higher and lower handicap players.

Course was in excellent condition when we visited in December. Tees and fairways were great to play from. Bunkers were properly filled and properly raked by green staff. Greens were well contoured with plenty of challenging pin positions and the playing surface was true, consistent and fast.

Complete your visit with a couple of glasses of the Rams Hill Golden Ale.

Course was recommended by a friend and Amazing as described. Staff was great and course and greens were in Great condition. Will definitely be back soon and bring my Son to play.

The entire staff from the pro-shop, greeters, grounds keepers, starters, ram shack folks and everyone else all make for the best experience imaginable. When it comes to the track and its surroundings, every hole has its own personality, challenge and pristine view. Course conditions are good have improved since last season. Its a must play course!

Pace of play is horrible. Few fairways need work.

Have been playing here for over 10 years and has always been good in terms of pace of play - this time, it was horrific and they simply could not marshall the course. +5 hour round, groups thinking they were PGA players ligning up 6 inch puts, people teeing off brom tee boxes they had no business playing, etc. The really disapointing part was that the staff simply didn't seem to take it seriously. Really going to have to think about going back here if this is the new management style.

Folks who stopped for tacos pushed in front of us and were very rude and aggressive. We were already waiting 5 minutes for the group in front of us to tee off.

Really put a negative spin on our experience. There need to be some guidelines on proper etiquette if one pulls out of sequence for tacos.

My buddies and I had an amazing couple days of golf at Rams Hill last weekend. We did the Stay and Play and rented a 4br house through Rams Hill. It was easy and they booked all the tee times for us. Course was unique for SoCal and in great shape. Can’t wait to make this trip an annual tradition.

If you have a chance, play this course.

Playing Rams Hill is a real treat and well worth the drive.

I love this course. Yesterday, the greens were spectacular! The fairways are filling nicely and are better each week I play there.

Course is amazing. Little windy but super fun. Food is great and free tacos at the turn. Can’t wait to go back

This is one of my favorite courses in SoCal, the course is in great condition and they continue to make improvements around the course each year (without interrupting play).

It’s a great layout that gives it a fun challenge for all levels of golfers (in my humble 6hcp opinion). We stayed at the House on the Hill and I can’t recommend it enough. The house sits right above the 15th tee box with amazing views and it’s got everything you need for a fun golf trip with your favorite people. Can’t wait to come back!

First time playing that course on a friend’s recommandation. The layout, the quality of the course, perfectly manicured, the viewpoints, the well organized driving range and the friendly staff, everything in place to make for a Fantastic day at the Rams Hill golf course.

Do I recommend it. Without a doubt. If you have as much fun as we had, you will have a blast…….Oh !!! And don‘t forget to taste the excellent burritos that are provided complimentary at the 14th hole if I recall correctly.
