Rams Hill Golf Club

It was a fantastic day. Every hole is a picture. Every shot an opportunity to be one with the landscape. I can't say enough about this oasis in the desert. Do yourself a favor and come play here. It is worth the drive from everywhere.

This course is one of the best in the San Diego area.

Our division 3 golf team came to San Diego for a week of golf. We played 6 different courses all top tier courses but Rams Hill was the number one track we had came across. It is located in the desert with a beautiful layout with the perfect decor. It was perfectly designed and set up for any type of player. We went out there with high expectations and with out a doubt received it. Employees were all so great and welcoming as well. I would highly recommend this course to any golfer because it is no where near a let down.

Absolutely would recommend Rams Hill to any golfer and I'm already planning my return visit.

This course as a terrific combination of excellent design and top-notch course conditions. These were the best fairways I have seen in a long time, and the greens were fast and true.

Along with the conditioning, the layout here is challenging but fair. There are generous fairways encouraging you to hit your driver on all the Par 4s and Par 5s, and then the green complexes are just terrific. They make great use of bunkering, mounds, tiers, and subtle elevation change. Greens are big but getting close to the pin will take a great shot.

We also rented the Golfboards for an extra fee and they were a lot of fun. The course was empty by mid-afternoon, and we got around 9 extra holes on the Golfboards in 1hr 12 min.

We had a threesome and were blown away from the very beginning. If you like a scenic golf course you have it. If you like a players golf course you've got it. Talk about an amazing design by Fazio. The staff was amazing, top notch service. I didnt have one but my buddy had a huge breakfast burrito that looked great. We rode the golf boards and had a blast. We will definitely be back.

I haven't seen any negative reviews of Rams Hill, and this certainly won't be one. The setting is gorgeous, the course was in perfect condition (It was Augusta-perfect, with fairways, rough, tees and greens all deep green, with no bare spots anywhere.) The range is amazing, with ProV balls, individual range finders and multiple targets. I do have one niggle. The Blue distance is nearly 6400, White is about 5800. They need a combo at around 6000-6100.

We paid $80 on GolfNow. Courses in San Diego in similar condition are $120-200.

Getting there is a bit of a chore however. It's about 90 minutes from Escondido, nearly 2 hours from Downtown San Diego and the drive, while spectacular on a motorcycle or in a Porsche, is hard work in a minivan or pickup truck. I think it's a little easier coming from Palm Springs. (The Director of Golf makes the commute from La Quinta in 75 minutes.)

The town of Borrego Springs is pretty tiny, but there is a variety of restaurants and a few things to look at. We're very glad we went, have nothing but good things to say about the course, but will wait a while before tackling that drive again.

Decided to take the drive out to Borrego to play Ram's Hill. Very glad I did. The course is stellar. Excellent conditions from tee to green. Very nice practice facilities as well. Highly recommend

This is one of the most unique golf courses I have played! The course was in great shape when I played and the greens were very very good. The course is a great layout that is fair but is challenging as well with some risk reward situations from driveable par 4s for longer hitters and options to go for most par 5s in 2. The staff was friendly and courteous. Good driving range and fairly big putting green. I would recommend this course to everyone, it is well worth the drive to play one the best courses in the desert!

We are so happy that Ram's Hill is BACK. We have played this course since 2000 and were so disappointed when it fell into disrepair. However, the owners have done a fantastic job bringing this course back to life. We played 7 courses in Borrego Springs and Palm Spring and Ram's Hill was in the best condition of any of the courses we played (including The Club at La Quinta), We will definitely be back. We also spent Valentine's Day there for dinner. Food was wonderful and the service excellent. Of course, nothing can beat the scenery that Borrego Springs has to offer. It is a special piece of paradise.

My wife and I decided to be ambitious and drive 90 minutes from Palm Desert- we were amply rewarded!
The course is quite impressive in beauty and design. It is a special place!
The Club house is also wonderful. We had a cocktail after our round, outside, where we had a great view of the finishing hole and appreciated the ambience.
We have played some great courses throughout the country. This is truly one of the best you will experience

We played this course after having it highly recommended by some people we met on a course. Took us about 1 1/2 hours to get there from Indio, so I think that will keep a lot of people away.
Course was in great shape, interesting holes, not too difficult from the whites, but would be quite challenging from the back tees I think. Good pace of play and a great restaurant for drinks and snacks after the round.
Would consider staying in the area and playing more than once.

We had been wanting to play this course for a while, having read the reviews.
Finally, when all of our schedules aligned (or sick days could be arranged) we pulled the trigger and made the two hour trek.
We we're definitely glad we did. Beautiful emerald green grass and your clubs slice right through it.
The course looks amazing, fairways are gorgeous. They have done a great job using water on this course and the holes that incorporate water hazards look great.
Greens were tricky and quite quick (I thought golf was supposed to be easy?).

A+ warmup facilities with ProV1 practice balls and rangefinders.

From the course, to the staff, to the food it was a wonderful time and we all left wondering how quickly we can get back out there. From loading our bags on the cart to cleaning our clubs when we left, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I can't say enough positive things about this place and the staff that run it.

They even have a couple golf boards you can rent!

The course was in terrific condition. The staff was the most courteous of any gold course I have played. The views were spectacular. It was a very enjoyable round of golf and the food at the clubhouse was very good. It was well worth the drive from PGA WEST in La Quinta

Haven't played here for a long time, and the makeover is amazing! Not that the old course wasn't good, but it is now mostly like a reverse of the old layout, and extremely well done. I will definitly be going back

I've never rated anything 5 stars before but this course is amazing. The course was in wonderful shape with fairways as deep color green as you can imagine. The greens were pure and true. I did find a lot of sand but even that was in in great shape. Never had a bad lie that I didn't deserve. Staff was friendly and the food was excellent.

Incredible golf course, in pristine condition. A Tom Fazio design that rivals and beats the best private clubs in Palm Springs. The greens were amazing. Director of Golf Mike Setchell has put together an amazing staff. Take the time to play this beautiful course and you'll go back again and again.

A gem in the dessert. Challenging layout and the course was in great shape. Very friendly and service oriented staff.
The course is a must whenin Borrego and I would prefer it over Palm Springs.

This course was perfect in every way! I did not believe all the reviews at first but take the time and drive out you will be very happy you did!

Way too expensive .No locals rate will kill you..Locals bring friends over and over again ,as many of our friends come visit the desert.We buy drinks and dinner too.Please get wise to this folks.

After reading several of the reviews, I decided to make the drive from Escondido and give this course a try. Wow, what a GREAT decision! This course completely blew me away. The conditions are truly immaculate!! The fairways, rough, and tee boxes are all lush, green, and perfectly manicured - not spray painted green like many other courses this time of year. The greens were receptive and rolled true. The course layout is challenging yet fair, and offers a great mix of shots. The surrounding mountains provide a gorgeous scenic backdrop for the round as well. This is hands down my favorite course in San Diego County. I'm so glad I made the drive, as it was WELL WORTH IT. In fact, I actually enjoyed the 85 minute drive from Escondido. Hwy 78 offers some really beautiful terrain and several great places to stop for dinner on the way home (Wynola Pizza, then Julian Pie!). Bottom line, I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you make the drive to Ram's Hill. I will certainly be coming back as this place is a hidden gem.
