About
Singing Hills Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course on property.

Fairway condition was terrible!
I played many times this course, however today's fairway condition was very bad, like rough. I lost my ball at fairway!
Maybe, the course will prepare some important tournament.

Shady
I've played the courses at Sycuan for many years. It's usually in mid-range condition, and the staff are nice...especially the ladies working the beverage carts. But today they charged a full premium rate of $85 with the fairways being overseeded and longer than the rough...and the greens still had slight punch marks in them. It was absolutely atrocious. I'd have no problem with this if they were up front about it and reduced the rate. But they know people will sign up and not know till they get here and pay the full price. Just because of how shady it is, I will never play here again.

UNBELIEVABLY BAD CONDITIONS. Save your $$
My first negative review ever. Called the pro shop prior to reserving on Golfnow and was told (without asking) that they had overseeded a few weeks prior but were cutting fairways and greens for the first time the morning before we played. They did not and when I say the fairways were unlike anything I’d ever played on before, that’s with zero exaggeration. My group lost countless balls that were in the middle of the fairway, and oddly there was very little grass in the rough. Greens had been mowed at some point but they were equally as bad. Finally the carts couldn’t go anywhere near the fairway or they would shut down, the problem was you couldn’t tell where the fairways were and most holes didn’t have actual cart paths, there were times when our carts wouldn’t go when we were on the cart path right next to the tee boxes, constantly had to put them in reverse and then push them a few yards! I made the tee time for the group and I was embarrassed by the conditions. Spoke to a young guy in the pro shop afterwards and he was like “yeah whatever”. Easily the WORST conditioned course I’ve ever played and it was a “Hot Deal” for $50.

Be careful WHEN you play this course
Do not play Oak Glen in September October November. They were seeding and all the fairways were like the rough. Long grass and had trouble finding ball. Golf carts were useless as you had to stay in Weird undefined cart path areas . Carts would stall and not move if you tried to drive to where you thought your ball landed.

Sycuan’s canned response to the bad reviews was inadequate.
I previously reviewed my play there yesterday. Rather than give a rote apology and an insincere promise to communicate better with their customers, they should be offering a free or highly discounted round to those of us who had to play in such poor conditions, once the course is restored to a playable state. When a course is under the process of restoration, it should be temporarily closed to play. Fairway grass longer than the rough due to over seeding, losing balls on the fairways, greens with long tufts of grass in each of the plugs, making putting nearly impossible, and tee boxes where you are forced to hit off dirt, carts not allowed on fairways making pace of play crawl, inadequate gps and signage for where the carts are or should be on the course all add up to a truly lousy round. I brought this all to the attention of the gentleman at the pro shop and he simply apologized. Coupled with the inadequate response from them to the multiple bad reviews here, it appears that they do not care about their customers. Hey Sycuan, make it right for those of us who played here during this period of restoration. That would be good customer service.

Poor Course Condition
They were over seeding with winter rye. No carts were allowed on the fairways slowing pace of play. Would have been faster walking. Waste of money. The fairways were long. Playing from the rough was better. So long that you had difficulty finding your ball in the fairways. The greens had been punched recently and in each punch were tufts of grass making putts erratic. I would happily play this course again but would have liked to know the conditions before paying and playing. I would have chosen an alternate today.

Overseeded but Nobody Told Me
Great layout but I would not have played if I had known the course had just been overseeded and you could not access the fairway with your cart.
Fariways were like playing from the rough.
Probably better to play there in November.

Not worth your time or money
What a terrible golf course this is. We came to SD for a bachelor party and wanted to play some golf. There were surprisingly limited options so we ended up here. Greens are like putting on a rag carpet. Fairways are none existent. Tee boxes are longer than the rough at a real golf course. Do not come out here. It’s an absolute goat trail. I was hoping for something similar to Industry Hills or even Laguna Woods up the 5. But this was an absolutely pathetic excuse of a golf course. It was so bad we bit the price and left after 9. First time in my 20 years of golfing I’ve done that. If I could request a refund I would.

Terrible conditions
Tee boxes, greens and fairways were a mess. Grass was so long couldn't find ball in middle of fairways. Cart path only and they kept shutting down where ever you drove. No where on teeoff booking or Sycuan site did it say course was so bad.

Beware overseeding
They’re overseeding the course. How they could charge anyone money to play while the course is on this condition is beyond my comprehension. Hit the ball in the middle of the fairway and lose it. That’s the way my whole day went. I hit every shot from the rough because the grass was 4-6 inches high everywhere. I was better off aiming for the traps and out of bounds. Terrible that they would do this. I lost balls in the middle of the fairway simply because the grass was so high I couldn’t find it. Shame on them. This is not necessary.

Course has gone downhill
I used to love this course and recommend it to everybody but over the last couple of years it has been too unpredictable. I've played approximately 10 rounds in the last 2 years at this course and the greens have been terrible lost to fungus or overgrown to where it's like putting on a fairway. The fairways are generally in good condition but when they are doing overseeding and punching they never put any warning up or let you know you just show up and find out after you have paid.

Singing the blue's.
Not one good thing to say. They had limited access to drive on fairways.Carts would slow down to almost no pace even when you think you might be on the right path. They should of been closed down Total rip off. They had terrible fairways and aerated greens. Grass was overgrown. 8th green to 9th tee box loses everyone.This should be embarrassing to all employee's. Signage is terrible. Temporary green on 18 was terrible and they know it. I would like a total refund for my foursome. I do not ever plan on coming back unless they do more than apologize. If I would of known this ahead of time I would of cancelled.Definitely two thumbs down. Again they should of been closed.

Oak Glenn
It was terrible. We rented a cart and you couldn't drive it hardly anywhere. They restricted the area where you could drive and directions to stay on path are terrible. I cannot put into words how bad it was.. They were reseeding and aerating the greens. The course also needed cutting. In other words in plain english it was terrible. If we would of know all this we would of never played. Foursome $300.00. and you can tell them they will not see us again.
