Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Oak Glen
About
Singing Hills Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course on property.

Pace
Why isn’t more done to keep players moving? No consideration for the other players on the course. It shouldn’t be the players job to scold the offender
supprised
Booked on line and made sure that greens hadn't been punched. Beautiful day when we arrived, the staff that met us was very friendly. When we met the starter he told us about the course conditions. The fairways had been over seeded and not cut back yet. Imagine driving your ball down the middle of the first fairway and loosing it in the 3in. thick grass. I thought, "this could be a long day." We got used to the conditions and things got better. The greens were in great condition could have been a bit faster. Lots of parallel fairways which were tree lined. Not a very exciting course, but is is beautiful. Could post a better round if the fairways were normal cut, would play here again.
Good...not great
Having put into words the title, I'd like to say it coulda been really good. Recent work on the greens and fairways limited us to cart path only because the fairways most all had new grass growth. Hadn't even been cut. Some balls were hard to located because of the length of the fairway grass.
Knowing the course now, I'd play.a bit different, but good shots were still rewarded and errant shots were....well, just not easy.
One of the best courses in San Diego
First time I played Glen Oak golf course it's in great condition, all green grass trees beautiful place to play.
The pleasure of solitude
I decided to play single at 7 am.. what a pleasure that was!
No one in front, and the foursome behind a bit slow, so no rush.. I was able to enjoy the morning and concentrate in my game.. I will do it more often.
The fairways? good. The greens? impeccable!
Looking forward to another session
The only thing is that you must be a long hitter for the par 4's are long mostly.
dont play oaks in the morning - sun in your face
I was seeing spots all morning from a 7:45am start with the sun and glare in my face. Most of the holes are due east making it difficult to see.
Not a Friendly Place
I have played this course 4 times at various times and days of the week. The only thing consistent is the Pro Shop is the rudest I have ever encountered. They never smile or say hi when you approach them. You are more like an inconvenience to them, they act like they are doing you a favor. Please keep in mind this is all the staff. It does not matter if you play in the morning, afternoon, a Saturday or a Wednesday afternoon. This last visit the person in charge was watching the interaction. I went on to tell him this is the reason I don't play this course, because your staff is horrible. He replied that he hears that often. So the guy in charge knows this and doesn't fix it, WOW. When I joined up with the group I was playing with they said the same thing. One of the guys actually works for Sycuan and said it is a problem. So it seems everyone knows about this but does nothing to make it better. From what I hear they are building a 300 room hotel for this resort and are getting a 4 star status. Well based on this golf course I would give them 1 star for customer service. Someday a high roller will walk into this pro shop and get treated that way maybe then they will wake up. Save your money and time and play somewhere else if you wish to be treated like a person.
Great Shape
The course was in excellent shape and it was fun to play. However, I think the greens fees are a little high for the course without the Hot Deal we got. I only gave a 3 star for customer service because the guy in the pro shop, taking our money, acted very annoyed when I asked to look at their Lost and Found drawer for my Laser Range Finder I lost the last time I played there. My buddies also commented on his attitude.
Good Round
Course is in decent shape but the greens are very slow. Nice staff and good pace of play.
Great day for a round of golf. I’ll be back.
Fun outing
Course is in pretty good shape and is well maintained. I would like a greater marshal presence as slow play ruins a nice outing. It should not fall to the players to motivate golfers who can’t keep up a decent pace of play.
Water/marshals
Played this past weekend probably 100degrees both days and no water available anywhere on the course anywhere except for purchase if it's 100 or even 90 course should have water available they had water fountains but they did not work unbelievable and as for the marshals we saw one just sitting under a nice shade tree, saw him three or four times under that same tree didn't do much for the slow pace of play, five hour round.
Exceptionally Average, Overpriced
Beyond the scenery, there's really nothing much to talk about here. Was able to get a deal time, so made it an OK deal, but don't know how they get $83 weekend green fees. Simply not worth it. Most holes just go back and forth and lack character and the conditions of fairways were spotty. Greens were in pretty good shape, but spongy. Would not pay more than $50 to play here.
Pace of play was slow - 5 hour round. Saw ranger twice each 9 and he said he was on a few slow groups but pace was just slow.
good day of golf
oak glen is a fun course, not the hardest, but between wind and mature trees, it's a good test. bunkers are very good, the greens rolled well considering they are very spongy. oak glen is often looked upon as the lesser course to willow glen, but I enjoy it just as much.
Thank you for the great feedback smayhem! We love hearing from you and are glad you had a good experience excluding cart path only. We would love the opportunity to bump those 4 stars to 5. We hope you will come back soon so we can WOW you on your next visit. Until then, take care!
