Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Oak Glen
About
Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan (formerly known as Sycan Resort) offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course from Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan.

Always Fun
This was my first time playing oak in a very long time. It was exactly like I remembered it if not better. Great staff and facility, i'll be back more often now.
Course manager needs to lay off the water making the fairways way mushy. Greens are good but too spongy always.
Beautiful day on an average course
The course is in decent shape, the greens were running super slow, a bit over watered. The layout is ok, trees everywhere, not to bad. I paid 50 from golf now, but to much. Not my favorite course, over rated.
Majestic Oak Glen!!!
Oak Glen at Sycuan might just be the best course in San Diego County! The greens are true (not fast and not slow) and the conditions here are perfect. The food on and off the course is great and they don't charge an arm and a leg for beer. Great beer selection as well.....on to the actual course.....
The trick to scoring well on this course is to warm up first so you can score well on holes 1-4. Hole 5 is a monster par 4 over a dry riverbed that requires a 250 yard straight drive to have a chance at the green in 2. Hole 7 is a short par 5 but has a very challenging tee shot (hit a high driver or 3 wood over the trees in front of you) and you are on your way to par....miss the drive and you are in bogeyland. Hole 8 stay to the right side of the fairway. Hole 9 is a challenge if you go right but keep it down the left side of the fairway and enjoy your score. If you can time your round later in the day you will enjoy the serenity of warm late afternoon yellow glow on the back 9. Hole 10 is a long straight par 5 so hopefully your driver has heated up by hole 10. Hole 11 stay left. Hole 12 stay left. Hole 13 hit a 5 iron straight ahead to avoid the water on the left and traps on the right. Hole 14 might be the easiest hole on the course. Hole 15 is a long challenging par 3 so good luck on that one. Hole 16 if you hit it down the left side you shave off 50 yards. Hole 17 you want to favor the left side of the fairway. Hole 18 is a long straight par 5 so keep it straight and you should end with a par. Hole 19 is great too with the food and drinks you would expect from a quality establishment. If the bar is not your style try the restaurant as the food there is top notch for all meals. This resort has the best practice areas in all of San Diego County!!! 5 practice putting greens are scattered throughout the resort as well as 2 bunker practice areas, 2 chipping areas, and a great driving range. The hotel has wonderful rooms and the beds are so comfortable watch out you might miss you tee time. Enjoy this resort as often as you can I know I do. Cheers!
A must play....
What a great Course to spend 4 hours. Pace of play great, field conditions great (aside from the heavy winds blowing leaves everywhere). Friendly Staff... ABSOLUTE GEM!!!
Nice Layout
Oak Glen has not changed much over the years. It is a fun track with pretty straightforward shots. What you see is where you put it. Few blind shots. Course in very good condition. Greens seemed slow.
Am I in the Rough?
Playing Oak Glen is always a treat. Enough trees to make you think and enough water to make you flinch. However, recent over seeding is the only reason I can think of for the shaggy fairways and greens. Over seeding was weeks ago and the conditions were much better just last week than they were this week. I expected much better this week.
Excellent Value
I’m an out of towner and got a chance to play here after concluding some business. Overall, excellent value. Great course layout with very nice greens. Greens rolled quite slow from what I’m used to but we’re nice. Fairways could use a mow but again, great condition. Just lost out on some roll. Staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. Range was decent for hitting off a mat. Limited flight balls but perfect for warming up. Also have a nice chipping green and what seemed like a dozen putting greens scattered about. Like I said earlier, it was an excellent value and I’ll be back next time I’m in town.
Ok course
I have to say I did enjoy the course, however saying that the course is not worth paying 99$ if you have to pay the non-resident price, at best maybe 35-40$,the greens were slow but rolled fairly true, the staff was friendly snack bar just ok
A great course
This is a fabulous course, nestled in the foot hills of East County. All three are great (two 18's & a Par 3)...
ROUGH Weekend
Looked like the greens had just gotten a makeover... No sand on them though! Very bumpy and very ROUGH . Usually the greens are well manicured, not the case during our game. ( Played with my son.)
Were not allowed to drive on any fairways, had to stay on cart paths or on the ROUGH. Even that WAS ROUGH!
Where are the mowers??
The mowers have not been out on this course in days?? Tee boxes, fairways, rough, grasses were extremely high. Course played "all Carry" no roll all day! Not fun playing out of deep thick grasses, even from the middle of the fairway, fringes of the greens, etc. Had I known the conditions, would have past on this "deal"!!
Oak Glen
The greens were very nice and the course was lush and green. I definitely would recommend it.
Never a bad day for golf
Played on a Sunday afternoon when it was pretty warm, but the breeze came up, as usual, and we had a great day of golf. Brought out of town friends and they thought Oak Glen was a blast. I won't be surprised if we wind up coming back for one of the other Courses in the future.
Too flat for my liking
I really prefer to play the sister course Willow Glenn, but they were punching the greens, so... maybe next time.
Most of the fairways are ok, and the greens are 90% fine, so it makes it an enjoyable course to play,
Will play again soon
