Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon

Always nice to play at cinnebar. Pace of play is always good. Course is beautiful and the scenery is always great. Overall a great course to play.

We played the Lake and Canyon course. Both 9 holes post great challenges. Course plays true to its slope. Greens are super fast. Overall, I rate this course A.

In spite of this drought, fairways pretty good shape. Greens excellent, very fast. Best public course in the valley.

A very challenging course with no two holes alike. Course is fair with fairways wider then they appear. Beware of poor shots, they can cost you dearly, but the course is a lot of fun to play.

Great course with changes of elevation that puts a premium on placement of shots off the tee. Greens are quick and undulating, don't get caught on the wrong side of the flag.

I first heard about this course from family members and friends, and I had wanted to play for quite a while. The drive up here past Calero Lake is beautiful and provides great views. A few weeks ago, I played Mountain and Lake, and while I liked those, I would have to say that my favorite nine is the Canyon.

Today I played the Lake course and then the Canyon course. The Lake course heads out towards Calero Lake, and also has a small lake of its own on the par-5 seventh. This nine incorporates the natural terrain quite well. My two favorite holes on this nine would be #4 and #8. From the Cinnabar tees, the fourth features a forced carry of around 150 yards uphill, and a bit more if you try to be aggressive. Hitting tee shots trying to cut off as much as possible down the right side is quite a lot of fun. #8 is a short par three over a large wetland area to green surrounded on three sides by the hazard. The green features many contours that make putting a lot of fun.

The Canyon nine is my favorite nine. The Lake nine does a great job of incorporating natural terrain, but Canyon does it even better. Holes #2 and #9 feature huge downhill tee shots. #3 and #4 are two relatively short par fours, but they are quite different. #3 is under 300 yards, and requires a good layup to be able to access a very tricky green. Hole #4 requires a big drive to get over the large tree in the middle of the fairway and a flip wedge up to a green with a very picturesque lake nearby. This nine has a lot more hazards than the others, especially hole #6, a shorter par five that still requires thinking.

All in all, I really love this course, as it has great views and well-designed holes.

I found the club house and pro shop to be very nice. Lots of great photos and memorabilia. The courses were recently punched and sanded so the conditions were not at there best. I would return for another round.

I totally enjoyed the course and staff,,,,,HOWEVER,,,,,,I was disappointed in that I was only able to play 9 holes twice of the 27 holes and was not warned before I bought the coupon or I probably would not have bought it. I did mention it to the staff and they said to let you know and you would "make it right".

I think Cinnabar Hills is a great value and it's my favorite public courses in the bay area.

Overall the course was in great condition. By playing early morning, was able to complete the round in just over 3 hours as a twosome. Best value in the San Jose area.

Saw this on golf now for $4 and couldn't believe it so I booked it. When I got there they told me it was a mistake but that they would honor it. They have my respect and I will be going back.

Had a great time, course conditions are pretty good considering amount of play.
Green are running nicely and stay on track.

Great practice facility and the 19th hole was wonderful

Pace of play was amazing. The group ahead of us was just getting off the green when we went to tee off and the group behind us got to the tee right as we were finishing on the green. Although we are in a drought, I am surprised that a course this expensive has so many dead grass areas. We played Los Lagos a few weeks ago and I've not seen so much green on a golf course in a while. I'll be looking to play greener courses for this price. Otherwise, the prices shoudl be reduced due to the grounds conditions.

Got to play here on monday and the course conditions were awesome for california being in a drought. There were some good and challenging holes that had good risk/reward shots. Will definitely play here again.

Groups nicely spaced. Never a wait at any tee. Greens in great shape, super fast. Rest of course is as good.
