About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Course
Front nine excellent excellent shape, but back nine was in terrible shape from tee to some really terrible greens. Back nine seemed totally neglected. Most all widened bridges had a terrible drop off for the golf cart and really hurt my neck every time.

Swamp Fest
Pro shop staff and starter were friendly. However, we were not made aware of how wet the fairways were. The back nine was nearly unplayable and there was no cup on the temporary 18th green. There were only 2 nice fairways, the rest were not in good shape. Forward tee boxes were not great. Overall, we were disappointed and won’t return nor recommend this course to friends.

Course in transition
Overall was an enjoyable round of golf. I talked to one employee and understand that’s its current management recently took control of its upkeep and is working to make the improvements necessary, which includes tee boxes and some greens. It still was a good value and I enjoyed my round. I’ll probably play it again on my next visit. Good value for the cost.

First round @Hilton Head
Course is in really rough condition. I know a storm hit here last week but I don’t believe it has much to do with the condition of the golf course. Tees a mess, fairways and greens punched. Granted we only paid $50 for the round, but still come on man. Not on my list for a replay. Layout awesome as was cart guy.

Not so good for the money
I thought this might be better than a cheap municipal course. Not so sure about that now. The greens were bad. The overall conditions were a little needy.
When I play a new course, I look for good conditions for the money. This did not meet my expectation.

Under repair
Course was nice overall,but was under repair. 18th hole was being redesigned and the hole was on the fairway.

Overall this is a great course for the price almost all of the greens are in good condition there’s maybe 2-3 that needs little bit of attention but besides that I felt like I got my moneys worth out of this course

No coolers, so no water?
The course has a no cooler policy, but does not offer water and there is none on the course. When we checked in we were told the restaurant and snack bar did not open until 10:00. We luckily packed water bottles, but could not buy ice….. When we turned at 10:00 the snack bar was still not open. When I asked for ice, I was met with hesitation but they eventually offered. After a 60 second awkward encounter, they asked what I was going to put the ice in. I eventually was offered a cooler.
The course is also under construction on more than 6 holes and there are two temporary greens.

Great Course - Glad It’s Getting Love
Played here while my family was visiting Hilton head. A little off the island but only 30 minutes from Marriott’s SurfWatch so not bad and the McDonald’s in Bluffton is significantly better than the one in Hilton head so you can at least get breakfast before and not feel like you’re putting the staff out! As for the golf, I had heard that the course had gone downhill, but was recently purchased. It is clear that they are trying to bring it back. It is one of my favorites and really a great layout – challenging holes, different layouts, really a fun course! Two of the greens were temporary, but it looks like number 18 is about ready for prime time. An incredible price at $60 compared to other courses in around Hilton Head and well worth the money. No doubt the price will increase as the course comes back, but I certainly look forward to playing here in the future.

Interesting layout but...
The course was priced appropriately. Tee boxes, greens and bunkers need a lot of work. The course layout was nice and we had the course to ourselves. With a little love and attention this could be a nice course.
