About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Glad I gave it a try
While Crescent Pointe is owned and managed by the same company as Eagles Pointe which was in terrible condition, Crescent Pointe is a fun layout and conditions are much better. With a Hot Deal, value is good.

Disappointed Golfer
My son and I Crescent Point 4 years and loved the course. This year the tee boxes on the front 9 were in poor condition, to the point there wasn’t grass to tee off on. Many fairways were burnt out and the bunkers were concrete, no sand.

Great Potential but needs TLC
This course has a great layout and huge potential but the conditions are abysmal. Greens are extremely slow and very bumpy, bunkers are not cared for in the least, fairways are littered with crab grass and poorly cut, tee boxes are in poor condition with many bare spots throughout, and the driving range/practice area is in dire need of attention as well. If this course was in proper condition it would be worth $100 a round but in its current state it is not worth half that cost.

Disappointed
I’m really expecting this course to turn around but it looks doubtful. Greens were long and slow. Tee boxes were unkept and beaten up. Fairways were ok but just off the fairway there are tall weeds and uncut grass hiding the view. This course used to be great but I’m not sure how it is going to recover. I live local and play it about every other month. I’m always dissatisfied.

What happened?
We used to play this course up until few years ago on vacation and loved the layout and overall condition. Gave it a try this year and hardly even recognized some of the holes it was so overgrown from left/right/behind/everywhere, some of the tee boxes not cut in a couple weeks based on size of patches of grass and weeds on them, greens decent overall condition but easily the slowest I’ve ever putt on, and one of the par 4s on the back nine was closed off halfway up the fairway where we found a surprise makeshift green. So it was 17.5 holes.

Sadly neglected
This is a perfect example of a course that has sadly been neglected. I understand that rain or whatever can impact when you mow but trimming Trees, hedges, pulling weeds from bunkers etc, can be done even when the course is mush. Playing from the back tees I feel as thought I was cheated from several good tee shot views at overgrowth blocked my line of site. And this overgrowth is not the kind that’s strategically placed but rather neglected. Luckily I found a deal where I paid only $38. The guy ahead of me paid $75 and I would be sick to my stomach to think I dropped that on this course. I was bummed about spending $38 on it.

Not worth the money
Overgrown fairways and rough. Greens were like putting on a fairway. Recommend spending an extra $40-$50 to enjoy your round. The photo is the overgrown fairway.

Don’t waste your money
The condition of this course was the worst I’ve seen in the Hilton Head all week. Fairways and greens were in terrible condition.
Doesn’t look like they’ve maintained the course in awhile. Save your money and golf elsewhere
