Slow Play
It took us 3 hours to play 9 holes and we left. No ranger and staff didn’t seem to care. Nice course but we would not have been able to finish before dark.
Nice course but pace of play was horrid
The front 9 took 2:45, with nobody from the course doing anything about pace of play. When I asked about it after the round, a staff member told me management is unwilling to do anything about it for fear of a bad review. The course is difficult, with quick greens, and average players need to move to realistic tees to have a chance, but no one encourages that, and so the course backs up. On the back 9 we decided to skip forward on found that the group two in front of us was more than two holes behind. Although I find the course quite nice, I don’t think I will go back for the price I paid.
Don’t be fooled
Booked this course online after researching several courses in the Jacksonville area to play while I was in town for The Players. My online rate was $184 which I don’t mind for a good course. The layout was pretty cool pretty standard for a Florida course. The per the practice facilities were subpar. The driving range had almost no grass on it the chipping area was almost nonexistent and the putting green was half dead half overgrown with some sort of grass, other than Bermuda. I was charged $10 for range balls after paying $184 Green fee. Was a little nervous looking at the practice the facilities, but thought give it a shot. You don’t know what’s gonna happen. The tea boxes were not great but about average for any other course. They were flat level a little bit long and it looks like partially over seeded and partially original Bermuda. The fairways are about the same they were a little rough, there wasn’t much difference between The rough in the fairway in many places. The greens were Bermuda grass which I usually liked but there was some other grass growing in them in large circles all over the place that created little literal nouns in the green. You could not cut through them because they would drastically knock your ball of course but they were everywhere. Almost like speed bumps. The greens are also hard as a rock, and would not hold any type of shot could not get a chip to spin or stop for anything. I would say the greens are almost unplayable. The palace of play was atrocious a little over 4 1/2 hours and backed up two groups by the third hole never saw Marshall or no one came out to address. I can tell you that I’ve played a lot of courses all over the country and it’s embarrassing that they’re charging that much to play their “country club“. Don’t be fooled by the positive reviews on here. There’s obviously some manipulating of reviews because this course was a 2 at best and definitely not worth the money. Never been more disappointed in any golf course anywhere in the country that I’ve played in the last 20 years.
Disappointed
Have played here every year for many years and always my favorite course in the area. This year lots of construction, completely redoing the driving range. All play starting off the tenth tee, fairways very dry and sparce grass in many areas. Advised their will be all new greens for next season at this time, current greens not in condition they have been in prior years.
St Johns
Really liked the layout. Conditions were decent. Greens look patchy but rolled really nice. Had rained in the morning so carts were on path only but the course was firm and there wasn’t much standing water. I’d play there again
Frustrating and no response from pro shop - 5 some's allowed
Played this course for the first time. Great layout but the course conditions were poor. Greens were bare and tee boxes really beat up. We played behind a group of 5 for the entire round and they never offered for us to play through. No ranger on the course. When we told the pro shop, they blew it off. Apparently it was a group of members and they had approved it and the members were not about to let "tourists" play through.
I would recommend skipping this course.
This course has gone DOWNHILL
The course has all sorts of repair being done. There is virtually no practice range at all. The greens are bumpy and inconsistent, and the tea boxes aren’t horrible condition. This used to be a nice course. I played it several times last year, but would not go back again, unless there was no place else to play. I would stay away from this course until they finish doing what they’re doing and hopefully return it to the condition. It was in last year
Downhill fast
Course in lousy shape. Greens are bumpy.
Tee boxes bare and like sand traps.
HORRIBLE practice area.
Played this course multiple times last year and this year it has gone to way downhill
Don’t go.
Over priced at any price.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE!? It used to be pretty good
Very slow play
4 1/2 hrs to play 18. Place was very busy. Which is understandable. But to have the group behind us hitting into us off the tee boxes was very disrespectful. But we get it go twice hopefully that even bothered them more. You could actually see the at least 3 groups up front of us and that many more behind us.
Not bad, not great,,,,but not bad
Greens are slow, but well kept and consistent. Course layout is”ok”.
Crummy pro shop and club. Hard to get any quality food or drink either during or after the round.
It’s ok. Not bad. I wouldn’t go out of your way to play it, but if you want a decent round, it’s kinda worth it
Not what it used to be
Driving range, no grass, terrible condition.
Greens not rolled, different grass types growing in tuffs, don't run true, bumpy and hard as a rock.
Fairways not in great shape either.
Nice but slow
Love the course hate the pace. Challenging course but played here twice now and both times were 5 hour rounds. Lots of renovation going on at driving range but hopefully once done will improve course.
