St. Johns Golf & Country Club

About
Carved from a forest of pines and winding through wetlands and lagoons, St. Johns Golf & Country Club offers a scenic 18-hole round located between St. Augustine and Jacksonville. The course features tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens. There is also the occasional two-tiered green to look out for. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are several well-placed bunkers. Depending on how the wind is blowing, the course can range from being gentle to very demanding. Expect a 5 1/2 hour round. Busy Saturday, half the players are walking. No one monitoring pace of play. Greens all hacked up. Disappointing. But for $45 on a Saturday afternoon, what should else should I expect
Wonderful conditions at the SJGC!
My wife and I first golfed this course and enjoyed the wide and gently sloping fairways. The grass was well maintained and I recommend this course to other golfers!
Great Day at St. John's
Course was in real good shape and greens were rolling well. Always a fun track and we played in under 3 1/2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. After playing a 5+ hour round the weekend before at a different course, where we waited on every shot, this was great. What a treat this was to play with some pace. Thank you!
Overall course in good shape.
Course is in pretty good shape greens are just patchy and sandy but to be expected this time of year.
Excellent Conditions
Was an excellent condition tee to green. When you do get on the greens, don’t get above the hole as they are fast.
Very soggy due to all the rains
Sloppy sound - i think they lost their greens a while ago - but they're coming back slowly. Rough is HIGH (because they can't really mow) due to the rains. Many holes were cartpath only.
Give it a week or two to dry out......
No rain checks????!
We got rained out at the 7th teebox. Went into the pro shop to get a rain check and they hand us a receipt that is for 50% of what we paid on Golfnow. Then proceed to tell us it CANNOT be used to book online.
So...... we paid on Golfnow, got rained out after 6 holes, got 50% of what we paid returned to us by way of a RECEIPT (not any of our money back) and have to book at their rack rates to use it???? I could rebook 18 on Golfnow for less than it would cost to use this receipt with a rack rate!
NO THANKS! Never playing here again and here is my suggestion to anyone who chooses to book at St Johns via Golfnow - BETTER MAKE SURE IT ISN'T GOING TO RAIN, because you are basically paying total price for 18 holes once you tee off on hole 1.
Nice Course / Layout
Course is a lot of fun to play with hazards and traps plentiful. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape but soggy due to the weather. The greens were fair to poor with bumps and intrusion through out. Made it difficult to judge speed and line. Reasonable price for the loop.
The course has seen better days
Always loved playing this course and since moving away from the neighborhood had not played for 2 years. I expected it to be a wet course and had called earlier to find out if it was cart path only. Started of 10th. Fairways were as expected (good) but greens were unlike previous visits. I assumed it’s one off, unfortunately it was the case with all the greens. They are puttable and fast( cut low to compensate for multiple surfaces) That was not a problem until we reached the 18th hole and the rain got very heavy. After 20 minutes we decided to call it a day. I walked to the pro shop and that is where I met a gentleman working behind the counter and has been for awhile who I recommend to take customer service 101. He was rude and very proud of himself as he told me his name, while the assistant pro just sat there with a blank look. Condition wise,I feel it is going the route of the other 2 courses within 2 miles of them which is sad to see. My golf partner received our rain check which had stipulations on how to use which did not make any sense. If you book on line don’t expect to get a rain check but a credit towards future green fees and has to be paid at the course
