Inspired by the backdrop of the Manatee River, Ted McAnlis has created the ultimate golf experience with the perfect combination of beauty and challenge. Waterlefe Golf & River Club is built along a particularly beautiful section of the Manatee River, complete with wide expanses of pristine marshes and pleasant coves. Don't be surprised if on the 15th tee you spot a family of manatees poking noses up for a breath of air. The golf course was designed with a great deal of time, effort and expense going toward protecting and resorting the natural environment that gives the course it unique character. The gently sloped greens with the newest Tifteagle Bermuda offer the ultimate in putting. From a lazy start on the par-5 first hole to the big finish on the 18th hole island green, golfers love Waterlefe Golf & River Club!

Tough, but fair test
I’m a realistic 5-7 handicap at any given time. By and large this course is too hard for most which slows play down to brutally slow levels. Get a day where the wind blows like when my group played and it’s lost ball after lost ball unless you are a premium ball striker.
Enjoy the test and views, place is beautiful. Just know your score is going to be 7-10 strokes higher than you are used to….at least.

Good course, but let down by pace of play
Usually enjoy playing here as it's a good challenge - lots of water and tight fairways, and usually in pretty good condition. BUT this last experience was let down by pace of play... on some holes there were three groups playing and/or waiting on the tee. Price is fair if you can get a good deal but otherwise, peak-season morning green fees probably aren't worth it in my opinion.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Beautiful course!
My husband and I played this course yesterday, and although it was chilly and windy, we enjoyed every minute. The layout and scenery is beautiful and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. We would come back and recommend to friends!

Tough back 9
The course has some lovely holes, especially the back nine. However there are some long carries on the back nine and some unfair bounces towards the water.
The greens are in OK condition.

Great course
We have always enjoyed playing Waterlefe. Not an easy course…be prepared to loose some of your golf balls.

Challenging course
My wife and I played with another couple and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Lots of water, interesting layout, and challenging but fair holes. Very good condition, complimentary range balls was a nice touch and top rate service. Looking forward to our next game at Waterlefe.

Very nice course, good shape but very overpriced!! 150 per round not worth paying. Other courses in area less expensive and similar conditions. Also difficult to get advanced tee times.

Water Sneaks Up On You
No surprise, really. It's in their name. There is big water you can see, some forced carries, and water you don't expect, just out of view. It's a beautiful course, challenging even from the forward tees. The rangers try to keep up the pace, which I like, but it can be tricky with all the places your ball can hide. Multiple plays should help with learning safer places to hit.
