Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands
About
Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is carved from gently rolling hills located just outside of Orlando in the city of Leesburg. Although the wide fairways are relatively flat, the golf course's terrain provides the greens with gentle undulation. Sparkling lakes provide scenery while also coming into play as water hazards on nine holes. There are also doglegs and bunkers throughout to provide the golf course with even more challenges. Much of the land that the club occupies has been preserved as a wetlands area, offering golfers a glimpse of native wildlife. In addition to its natural beauty, Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is popular due to its accessible layout that accommodates both low and high handicap players.

Course precautions
Course took time to cover all ball washers, remove rakes, and removed drinking water coolers. I had paid through golf now so they didn’t need my credit card. Bring your own water and snacks. Might want to bring wipes to clean cart surfaces.
A must play
everything about this course is great tricky, greens great Fairways nice layout of the whole course
Great Layout
Round could not have been better. Friendly staff, great greens and a really challenging layout requiring many different shots and some nice risk/reward opportunities. Can't wait to play again.
Shotgun Start
My wife and I played here for first time while on FL vacation. As other reviewers have mentioned, a shotgun start was the order of the afternoon. Our foursome was relatively high handicap players, and we got off to a poor start, so it wasn’t long before we were lagging. The Marshall advised us to pick up the pace, which is challenging since we were hurrying at the time. I understood the rationale but it kind of put a damper on a fun round of golf.
Course was very nice for the time of year. We would return but would probably avoid the shotgun, which might make it easier to let people play through.
Zacapa
We play offend on this course and like it very much..This time the greens were not well kept. but overall it is good value
Nice course
Course was in good shape, greens were nice but a few rough spots, took 45 minutes to get a golf cart after checking in, tee off was 30 mins late because of there shotgun start even though we booked a tee time and it didn’t say anything about shotgun start, they put 8 people at each hole to start, took 4 hours for 18 holes so that wasn’t bad because luckily they didn’t all play 18 holes
King for a day
I felt like a King for a day. Yep. I was the monarch @ Royal Highlands. Why you ask? Since the starter knows golf can be spectacular when you have a good relationship with your partner he found this old Marine a young man to pair with that was half my age. Well, this courteous young man named Seth called me "Sir" all day. The course offers multiple tee boxes of your choice. We used 'em all . We'd challenge some holes and attack others. And when we reached the greens they were so pure we stood on one leg Flamingo style and rolled the ball in the hole. Way too much fun. Thanks for setting up my court as King for a day!
Great course with tricky greens
Booked on GN but didn’t realise it was a shotgun start! Worked out pretty well, as a single I was paired with another guy and a Canadian couple. We had a great round but we all struggled reading the greens and getting the pace right. Bunkers were a little thin on sand in places but everything else was fine. Friendly and helpful people in the pro shop. I would definitely play it again.
Snowbird
What a beautiful course. Only down side I was thinking was the shoot gun start at 1:00 but it was really a nice thing. We started on 15 and it ran smooth all afternoon. Played in a little over 4 hours. Beautiful greens. Some of the nicest I played in my two months here.
Great experience excellent
Excellent course in great shape.well worth the price.

Overpriced
Quality/price ratio not very good- average course and pricey
