About
Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is carved from gently rolling hills located just outside of Orlando in the city of Leesburg. Although the wide fairways are relatively flat, the golf course's terrain provides the greens with gentle undulation. Sparkling lakes provide scenery while also coming into play as water hazards on nine holes. There are also doglegs and bunkers throughout to provide the golf course with even more challenges. Much of the land that the club occupies has been preserved as a wetlands area, offering golfers a glimpse of native wildlife. In addition to its natural beauty, Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is popular due to its accessible layout that accommodates both low and high handicap players.

Great Course
The best overall public golf course in the area. Great layout, well taken care of and a very good restaurant at the end of your round. Louis runs a great operation. All staff are terrific. Mike and Laura at the front desk are professional and personable. I play virtually every week and I’m never let down. I drive 35 minutes to get to the course.
Worldgolfer
Very nice people and course in great condition. Greens are very good. Some of the fairways had weeds but it was not too bad.
Good Shape
Course in solid Shape.....Greens are in very good shape and fast. Layout not bad, but not too challenging. People in clubhouse very nice, especially Mike
A Gem in Leesburg
There are many courses in the Leesburg area but Monarch is the best. The course is well maintained, the layout is excellent and the staff is very professional and friendly. Mike and Laura behind the desk are terrific. The restaurant has a nice menu and the servers are attentive and very nice. I play this course at least once a a week and more when I can.
I wish this were closer...
I decided to play a course I had not played before and drove up to Leesburg on Saturday (it's about an hour from Kissimmee). It was drizzling rain when I arrived but the weather showed that was supposed to stop before my tee time. The gentleman in the pro shop was very helpful and said he would try to get me out early, but they had a modified shotgun start on the course at the time.
When the last group of the shotgun went through the first tee he said I could follow them. In the 30 minutes or so that I had used the practice green no one else had shown up. Playing as a single behind a number of foursomes could have been painful...but, being unfamiliar with the course it allowed me, on holes where I couldn't tell what was behind a small rise, to drive out and see so I could pick my lines. The relaxed pace, and the opportunity to pick lines like I knew the course made the round a lot of fun. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the course drained well (in spite of the rain that morning and for several days prior), and that balls we releasing in the fairway.
The course has few forced carries, but a lot of lateral water. Quite a few holes shape for a draw (which could make the shot lines for someone who fades the ball a bit more risky). I really enjoyed the course and would play it frequently if it were closer. Some tee boxes were a bit rough, but the fairways and greens were in good condition.
Good course
Great pace of play, we completed 18 holes in four hours.. Friendly staff. The check-in process was smooth and efficient. There is a restaurant at the facility. Course layout was well thought out, offering some strategic challenges and scenic views.
However, the biggest challenge was the condition of the course. Some of the greens were in rough shape. Fairways were patchy and inconsistent.. crab grass on the greens. Bunkers were well maintained.
They did have a large maintenance crew working on the course as we played. So I'm hoping the conditions improve..

SAW THIS COURSE ON THE GOLF NOW WEB SITE AT A GREAT PRICE REVIEWS WERE GOOD SO DECIDED TO GIVE IT TRY VERY HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE VERY FRIENDLY STAFF COURSE WAS GREAT CODITIONS SOME WHJAT CHALLENGING LAYOUT MY THREESOME ALL HAD A GREAT TIME TOOK OVER A HOUR FROM DELAND BUT WAS WORTH IT GET ON YOUR HORSE AND MAKE THE TRIP YOU WILL BE IN FOR A ENJOYABLE ROUND OF GOLF THANK YOU MONARCH
Good course
Good course. Fairways ok,greens good and fast. Approach to greens a little iffy ,but playable. Will play again.
This course is fun to play
Greens were in good shape speed was reasonable for Florida in summer. Fairways were very playable rough was sandy and had a fair amount of weeds. Overall fair value would play here again.
Temps in the 90's. Greens rolled well and were pretty fast. Course in good shape overall, especially compared to others in the area.
It has been extremely dry the last few months, so all the area courses are hurting. Kudo's to Monarch for keeping conditions very playable.
