Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands
About
Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is carved from gently rolling hills located just outside of Orlando in the city of Leesburg. Although the wide fairways are relatively flat, the golf course's terrain provides the greens with gentle undulation. Sparkling lakes provide scenery while also coming into play as water hazards on nine holes. There are also doglegs and bunkers throughout to provide the golf course with even more challenges. Much of the land that the club occupies has been preserved as a wetlands area, offering golfers a glimpse of native wildlife. In addition to its natural beauty, Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is popular due to its accessible layout that accommodates both low and high handicap players.

SHOTGUN ROUND
PLAYED WTH A FORMER MEMBER AND HS NEIGBOR, SHOTGUN MORNNG ROUND PALED N 3 HRS. GREENS WERE 100% BETTER THEN LAST TME PLAYED THERE IN JULY. KUDOS TO GREENS CREW EVEN ROLLED ABOUT 9.0 WHICH S MUCH BETTER. PRO IS A VERY OUT GONG PERSON GREAT CUSTOMER SERVCE. KEEP UP GOOD WORK
NIce layout
The greens on the back nine are nicer than the front nine. Apparently, the greens had been aerated a couple of weeks earlier. The front nine greens had some bare spots, but still playable. I definitely enjoy playing this course.
Rain did not dampen the fun
Wanted a place to play on my one day off and since I had played here several weeks ago I chose to come again - the Tuesday 7:51 tee time is part of a shotgun start - tremendous fun and a great way to meet new people - this time I was paired with a Pastor and 2 of his congregation (added plus 1 was from my home town Chicago area) - we started on hole 18 and unfortunately the sky opened up when we got to hole 8 - we tried to wait it out, but since there was a massive downpour - the course closed - safety first - I still had a great 9 holes and made some new friends - this course is a must, everything about it is first class, from the front staff to the grounds keepers.
Monarch is always good, the course fits my game just perfect. The pace of play is always fast. The members are like rabbits, You have to hustle to keep up with him. The staff to scrape .
British Open Links style golf at its best
I had a rare day off and wanted to play somewhere near my mother in the villages as we were getting together for lunch. I booked a 7:45 tee time and arrived and was greeted by the very very friendly staff. Interesting enough I was informed that morning golf was a 18 hole scramble. No worries! Was paired with 2 gentlemen who live in the development and so had some insider knowledge of the holes and course throughout the round. We started on hole 6 - it was in stark contrast to most florida courses as it was a reachable (if you dare) par 4 over a lake. The golf became more and more fun as the round progressed. Had a great time will definitely return and play this wonderful course again.
Poor condition
this course is dried out and the greens are in sub-standard condition - bumpy and dying.
Course in ROUGH shape!!!
What you would expect for a $15.00 round. Took my 14yr old for first full round so was looking for a value round. Course was in pretty bad shape but guess many in the area are because of lack of rain for a few months now. Staff was very friendly. Nice layout, just not worth much more than the $15 we paid in current condition.
Booking issues
I booked this course and only after I completed the booking did it reveal that greens had been airrated. The fairways had not been watered for a long time and it was like hitting off of concrete! Information that the course was not in top condition should be revealed prior to the booking, not afterwards!
Simple course, greens roll true
Course dry due to drought, bunkers semi-firm, which I like.Short holes, average size greens, firm. Played with my new Canadian friends. Enjoyed the round
Great playability
Played this course on a trip to Florida from New York Found it very enjoyable and playable staff was excellent helping us get teetimes. Course is set very aesthetically nice green settings and use of space. Definitely we play again!
Well designed course.
My son and I enjoyed the course. It was well kept and and just enough challenge. I would recommend to a friend and will go back and play there again.
Worth the drive.
Live in The Villages but normally play a local course once a week. Foursome that played here all thought we should return. Green honest but a little slow. Tee blocks level. Water levels in all areas low and many parts of the course were dry because of low rain. With more water or watering fairways would be much nicer.
played the Golds which was lots of distance for 65 plusers
Best golf course for the money.
Great course......and even better greens. We were very impressed!
Good time at Monarch
This course was deceiving. Distance wasn't as important as placement. Select a tee shorter than you are used to. It was a good bargain at the price, although I'm not sure we got a deal. Greens were great! fairways a bit short of grass (used to playing in Wisconsin).
