Trump National Doral Miami - Silver Fox Course
About
The Silver Fox Course (formerly known as Jim McLean Course) is one of five 18-hole courses at Trump National Doral Miami. The courses offer a good game for players of any skill level. Unlike the Gold Course at the resort, the Silver Fox Course does not follow a traditional Floridian layout. There are elevated tee boxes and greens and narrow, rolling fairways. The golf course features an interesting variety of holes, short and long. Water hazards come into play on 16 holes of the 18 holes and there are also bunkers situated throughout. The course's signature hole is the 14th, which has an island green.

Make sure this course is even open to play before booking...
Booked this course, walked up to the clubhouse, which was not open. A maintenance worker told us that the course was closed, and has been closed for a week/will be closed for another week. Had to play an alternate course, which was not even on my want to play list. Wasted a whole day due to the inadequacies of this course posting times available when they should not have.
Good golfing option
Having played before, found it to be in awesome shape since taken over by Trump. Greens where perfect and the conditions very good.
Played the hybrid which makes for a challenging but fun distances.
Amazing condition
The course was in fantastic shape and the staff was phenomenal. One thing I didn't like was the practice nets. I much rather hit on a range to warm up before the round but there is no driving range on this course as it is separate from the main Doral campus. Overall the course was very challenging and a great experience and with the GolfNow deal it is affordable and a pretty good deal as the normal rates are pretty steep. Greens and fairways were in perfect shape.
Great experience!
Amaizing golf course with great maintenance. While in miami, it should be played.
Course was in good shape but needed a golfnow special deal to make affordable.
Would play again but only at the golfnow special rate. Good conditions and friendly staff.
Very nice course
Probably the most difficult course at Doral.
Water in every hole, thus either you land on fairway or you go to swim...
Fantastic grass conditions and perfect greens.
If compare to other courses in Miami that cost as Doral then definitely play at Doral.
Have fun
Expensive, Slow, Narrow, Water every Hole
The Good: Friendly Staff, Amazing Carts, greens and bunkers in excellent condition, and free for kids
The Bad: Tight fairways, ugly housing, ridiculously fast greens with difficult pin placements, tee boxes and fairways need better care. Water on EVERY hole, expensive snacks (1 can of soda, and 2 std candy bars were $9), Slow pace of play.
Overall - Course doesn't deserve either the Trump or Doral Names
Nice challenging course
Course is pretty much the same as it was before. Did not see any major changes except for the fact it is more expensive to play.
Very challenging
Was good day. Staff arranged pairing that was enjoyable. Pace of play was good. Conditions good. The course is difficult, but fun. Interesting challenge through their "Burmuda Triangle". Only detraction was rock buried in bunker under the ball on #12 that scuffed the bottom of the wedge. (shouldn't have been in the bunker). Greens are large and challenging when you are in the wrong section.
Good layout - but course needs attention
Wanted to play a Doral course while in Florida visiting from England.
Chose the Jim McLean because unable to get on the other Doral courses at short notice.
Upon arrival staff were very helpful and attentive.
The course was I'm afraid a disappointment. the layout was good and there are a good number of tees to provide various tests for all abilities, however, the condition of the fairways was way below the standard I expected for $125 per head. There were large areas of the fairway that were unturfed and had obviously been effected by recent storms. We were not fore-warned about this and there were no greens staff actually working to repair these spots.
The large number of greens staff that we did see didn't seem to be doing much, one followed us on a motorised leaf blower and disrupted our quiet for about six holes. The others all seems to be driving around but not actually attending to the course.
We may have caught them on an off-day but this course needs a dedicated attentive team to improve the condition.
Will I go back? Not at $125 and if the course is in that condition
I am surprised Mclean even puts his name on this track
I was in town and set up a quick one. I needed an early time and ended up with a good group of guys. Apparently the course has been bought. It is in awful shape worse than a muni. Sand was non existent which was good for me as I found every trap on the course and was able to hit regular clubs. No distance markers or cart electronics made it even more difficult.
