Trump National Doral Miami - Silver Fox Course
About
The Silver Fox Course (formerly known as Jim McLean Course) is one of five 18-hole courses at Trump National Doral Miami. The courses offer a good game for players of any skill level. Unlike the Gold Course at the resort, the Silver Fox Course does not follow a traditional Floridian layout. There are elevated tee boxes and greens and narrow, rolling fairways. The golf course features an interesting variety of holes, short and long. Water hazards come into play on 16 holes of the 18 holes and there are also bunkers situated throughout. The course's signature hole is the 14th, which has an island green.

Golfer Reviews
Nice challenging course
Course is pretty much the same as it was before. Did not see any major changes except for the fact it is more expensive to play.
Very challenging
Was good day. Staff arranged pairing that was enjoyable. Pace of play was good. Conditions good. The course is difficult, but fun. Interesting challenge through their "Burmuda Triangle". Only detraction was rock buried in bunker under the ball on #12 that scuffed the bottom of the wedge. (shouldn't have been in the bunker). Greens are large and challenging when you are in the wrong section.
Good layout - but course needs attention
Wanted to play a Doral course while in Florida visiting from England.
Chose the Jim McLean because unable to get on the other Doral courses at short notice.
Upon arrival staff were very helpful and attentive.
The course was I'm afraid a disappointment. the layout was good and there are a good number of tees to provide various tests for all abilities, however, the condition of the fairways was way below the standard I expected for $125 per head. There were large areas of the fairway that were unturfed and had obviously been effected by recent storms. We were not fore-warned about this and there were no greens staff actually working to repair these spots.
The large number of greens staff that we did see didn't seem to be doing much, one followed us on a motorised leaf blower and disrupted our quiet for about six holes. The others all seems to be driving around but not actually attending to the course.
We may have caught them on an off-day but this course needs a dedicated attentive team to improve the condition.
Will I go back? Not at $125 and if the course is in that condition
I am surprised Mclean even puts his name on this track
I was in town and set up a quick one. I needed an early time and ended up with a good group of guys. Apparently the course has been bought. It is in awful shape worse than a muni. Sand was non existent which was good for me as I found every trap on the course and was able to hit regular clubs. No distance markers or cart electronics made it even more difficult.
