I love the challenge
Course is very tough, but very fun. This course will definitely let you know how good you really are .
Hit em straight
More than any course I've ever played, you have to be hitting the ball straight at The Ranch. It is also the only course I play where I will not buy new balls before I play just because of the chance of losing them. And it's cart-path only the entire course so you'll get some exercise, which is a good things.
On the plus side the course is always in great shape, greens are very nice. A few of the holes seem jammed in where there was no room for a golf hole, but others are spectacular. Very challenging and if you're up for it play the back tees, it makes a few of the holes almost unreal.
I played this course once and said I'd never play again but since then it has grown on me and I now enjoy the challenge.
Tuf front
Bring an extra sleeve for the front even if your driver is on. The back makes you go home with a sense of greatness. Knowledge of the course here will save no less than 6 strokes. It;s a beauty though. No walking allowed
Great layout
The course was great. Low handicapers will hate it because they'll want to play it from the tips where the course rating is 150. Leave your ego at home and move up a tee box or two and you will have a fantastic time
Always a challenge
beautiful looks from the tee, challenging approach shots onto great greens, what more could you ask for.
Challenging but worth every penny
One of my favorite courses, the Ranch delivered. The views are wonderful, the weather is perfect, and you'll get your money's worth here.
I even recently booked to have my wedding here next year.
The putting green is really cool. It resembles the view you get from an infiniti pool.
Almost all holes have some sort of challenge. Many times you're hitting over a ravine which creates odd depth perceptions or shooting from an elevated tee or fairway.
I can't wait to play it again. I shot about my average score there though, an 88, so while it was challenging, it's not as if you can't go low. I'm sure if I play the course again I'll get around the course a bit better.
The only downside is how spread out the course is. I enjoy walking courses and it's just not possible here; carts only.
Tough course, but scenic
One thing I look for in a course is variety. Nothing is worse than a links-style course with holes that boarder all the rest. This course couldn't be further from that: every hole has it's own view and scenery, and some of the holes are a good 3 min cart drive away. As such, they don't let you walk, and you wouldn't want to.
That's where the redeeming qualities end. The course is extremely hard. On any other course I'll lose maybe a ball a round. If I lose less than a dozen a round here, it's a good day. Service is inconsistent--pro shop staff can be rude at times and some of the cart boys don't seem to want to be there. I wouldn't pay more than $40 to play here.
Coarse was tough playing it for the first time.
Coarse was tough playing it for the first time. It was in grat condition and played fairly fast. I can't wait to get back and try playing the course again.
Challenging, high risk course
Played with my wife and found that the course was actually well set up from the women's tees, making it a reasonably workable course from those tees.
