Briar Bay Golf Course

About
Briar Bay Golf Course, opened in 1975, is an affordably priced executive course that stretches out over 30 acres. The course presents challenges for all players, beginning to advanced. The layout features elevated greens that are small and fast, narrow fairways that are protected with bunkers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. Although it is located near a residential area the course promises an interesting layout that goes in every direction. Briar Bay Golf Course facility lacks some of the amenities of a private club, but they do boast a practice green and a clubhouse.

Sad
Grew up playing this course came home for Thanksgiving and I’m so disappointed as to what this course has become. Just sell it off at this point the greens are non existent and tee boxes are all dirt.
Ok I see you Briar Bay!
So I was in town for the NASCAR Race, and on Sunday morning I had some spare time and thought I would try to get a pretty quick round in so I decided to make a tee time for 9 holes and depending on my schedule might play an additional 9. I made the tee time knowing this was a municipal small 9 hole course so no problem there. Upon arrival which was easy enough to find, I was skeptical because the place is very lack luster in curb appeal and you could not see the course at all? I go up to the front window as there isn’t a Proshop so to speak but there are items to buy. In fact I collect ball markers and thought well not this time but turns out the front counter guy was like we sure do and also had my choice of colors. Ok now we are getting somewhere. Don’t expect a driving range for practice, there isn’t one or if there was I don’t know where they would put it? And the practice green well area was not much at all. At this point my hopes were not high?? But turns out for the value this place would be ok? So I paid for my round actually was able to get a cart, they are limited, and was paired with three other gentlemen who were absolutely a lot of fun and play there about everyday I think. The layout was tough for a short course and the course itself was pretty good except the greens - don’t expect greens really they are horrible but I didn’t let that detour me as I play to relax and have fun doing what I love. The three guys made me laugh and brought me in like one of their own and it was a great morning. So don’t go expecting lush and fancy your not going to get it, but do expect a great time and decent round of golf meeting some fine friends. The biggest thing is when I got back home which is about 4.5 hours I realized I had forgotten my rangefinder that I had just purchased? Oh no so I called and they guy said I have it in my hand, I asked if I paid to ship it would he please send to me, he said send me a gift card to OutBack, yes sir small price to pay for my mistake. Thanks for taking care of me and thanks for the great fun of golf. Only tip just invest in a little bit of money to get your greens back in shape and this place will just fine!!!
Briar Bay is awful
Worst course I have ever played, and will ever play!
Nice Startup Course, but poor PUTTING Greens
I took someone who hasn't played much & we had to walk as the course was wet. Not sure why...since the course was not in mint conditions to begin with. It's a "FAIR" course, but would be a "GOOD" course if the putting greens were in better conditions.
Great service great atmosphere
Really enjoyed this course
Mark was really helpful
Even gave me pointers on chipping
Please maintain the course!
Please fix the greens. It used to be a great course to play when it was well maintained. I live the course but it’s in terrible condition. Needs a ton of maintenance everywhere.
