Briar Bay Golf Course

About
Briar Bay Golf Course, opened in 1975, is an affordably priced executive course that stretches out over 30 acres. The course presents challenges for all players, beginning to advanced. The layout features elevated greens that are small and fast, narrow fairways that are protected with bunkers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. Although it is located near a residential area the course promises an interesting layout that goes in every direction. Briar Bay Golf Course facility lacks some of the amenities of a private club, but they do boast a practice green and a clubhouse.

Great course to hone your skills
Briar Bay is an awesome place to go and play some golf no matter your skill level. Fairly patient pace of play, and inviting golf staff make this a great place to go hone your skills on a 9-hole that can be pretty challenging. Fairways are wonderful, but the greens are struggling at this time. Hopefully the agronomy team can get this course back to the gem it is.
You Get What You Pay For.
I was going to write an honest review…but what’s the point?!
Just like their “greens.”
You get what you pay for…usually…but in this case, even at $30 for 9 holes, I got robbed.
not good, but still fun
The greens could not be worse if you drove a truck over them. This is still a fun course with a fun layout. It is a 9 hole course so it is designed for fun, not for luxury.
So So
Good course for getting out and practicing whatever you are working on in the game, but more than that and leaves a lot to be desired. Poor signage, easy to get lost and play the wrong holes as I did. Greens in very tough condition. Unless you get a killer deal as I did, would recommend avoiding to play until conditions are better.
Didn’t even play
Made a tee time at 10:00am for 11:20am. I arrived at 11:00am now mind you I’m a scratch golfer so I know what I signed up for. Normally playing courses like the Trump, Biltmore, Shulas. Melreese, this isn’t even the shadow of any of those places.
None the less, I approach the window and asked for my tee time. I tell them 11:20am. She says well your gonna have to wait, and side note your not going out alone… no worries I’ll wait till exactly 11:20am not a problem.
She then says, do you wanna walk, now mind you I’ve been walking since I was 1 year old so the answer was no. So continue waiting. The quality of players that play here are the people who basically have never swung a club in their life as she proceeds to ask why it’s so slow, she notices one group who is on their 3rd stroke each and they haven’t even passed the ladies tee.
Any who, 11:46am I’m on my way home. Didn’t even touch my clubs I did however make all 3 practice putts on the green so emotional support +1 for the front 9
Totally disorganized
So disorganized improperly run. Walked out and never played. It took too long to get to the first tee after our booked tee time.
Great value for money
As a beginner, I had a great time there, no lost ball !!! Nice place, crazy « hot deal » price, only the greens were not very smooth…
Briar Bay
Another great round.
Course is being worked on so tee spots changed from typical but that was actually enjoying. Almost felt like a different course
Staff is great
Great value for the money
