Mare Island Golf Club

Course is a good value, with senior and club rates. Fairways and greens are looking good again. Decent shots are penalized however due to overgrown roughs and anise weeds.

Although not a top tier course, the layout is always a challenge. Magnificent views. Good rains have helped the course green up. Staff is friendly. Practice facilities limited.

The course is in bad shape. The rough is out of control. If your ball rolls off the fairway, it's lost. The sand traps are like cement. The gps on their app did not work. They had a party group on before my tee time and there was a cart with three females just driving around without clubs. They were acting silly. They should not have been given a cart to cruise around. They could of gotten hurt. It's definitely not worth regular price.

Course was in good shape, except for the sand traps. After this very wet winter they haven't had time to get a new load of sand in them. They play like hard ground right now.

The pace of play was so bad we had to skip two holes to keep on schedule, even though there was a marshal going around they were more interested in keeping the carts off the fairway due to wet conditions.

Very friendly staffs, course in beautiful conditions, cart on fairways (rare for the time of the year) , very few muddy spots, nice pace of play

Nice course. Very wet in places do to recent storms. We still used carts on the front nine fairways....90* rule on back 9.Group in front of us was SLOW...drinking, music, chasing balls everywhere. Even coming all the way back to pick up my longest shots in the fairway. They were constantly running their carts up and back the fairway on almost every hole. Of course NO Marshal. Greens were in good shape. Nice day and course was in pretty good shape. A shame three people had no courtesy for others on the course.

Rarely do I come across a course that is as interesting as the Mare Island Golf Club course in Vallejo. This course is built into the hills near the Mare Island Shipyard and is far from the same ole same ole of simple straightaway predictable muni tracks. Do yourself a favor and play one of the more interesting courses anywhere in this area for a steal of a deal on greens fees and cart. You won't regret the drive once you get onto the course. Highly recommend!!!

Course was a bit muddy but playable went out late sunday.Course was empty .i believe the price should be lowered for twilight.

I had played the course many times and generally it has been an enjoyable experience but several issues I encountered including my last play have turned me off of the course. The first was my last play where the course layout was changed, 1st hole was where the 10th hole used to be, not a big deal but a little bother some. The really bothersome issue is not receiving a gift card that was purchased by a family member for my birthday that was in July 2016 for $200. This actually was the 2nd time this happened!

I will be straight forward. Course was in awful condition. Looks like they just mow and nothing else. Will not play again there.

It was good weather but afternoon start windy.

Overall course was very good and staff were excellent.

The course is in fair condition,the greens are slow and in below average condition. The layout is nice,but the maintenance is poor.

Only members playing mostly. Fairways no good and very slow pace. Rude members, not following rules of games.

The course is a little worn around the edges. It has been wet and there are a number of muddy spots that just really shouldn't be there. Virtually no sand in the traps. Lot's of elevation changes.

With that being said there are some beautiful bay views and if the price is right it is worth playing once in a while.

Course has excellent setup, very challenging on every hole with risk and rewards!!

Mare Island became one of my favorite courses to play in the North Bay. Oldest front 9 west of the Mississipppi, which has been now switched to the back 9. The new back 9 is favorite part of the course because I like to drive and you can use the driver on a number of holes. Mare Island has great views of the bay and downtown Vallejo and unique character with old military bunkers and buildings. Challenging course especially with hills and valleys on the front nine and narrow fairways. Always fun course to play had me coming back again and again, I also recommend the chicken Caesar wraps in the restaurant club house probably the best chicken Caesar wrap I have ever had, delicious.
