Great place to play
Go to Florida every summer and I like to play here every year. Place is awesome and you can’t beat the summer rates. Greens and fairways are always great.
Riverwood uses loud, obnoxious gas carts
I find it interesting that no one has commented on the noisy, dirty, smelly, gas golf carts used at Riverwood. You would think an 'award-winning' course would have the capacity to provide guests with quiet, clean, electric carts. Apparently, ownership will not invest in the comfort of guest's course transportation. Following one of those gas golf carts is like following a garbage truck, while following an electric cart is like following a Tesla. Needless to say, your game and comfort are improved with electric carts. Do golfers need to announce their arrival at every tee and green, as they approach it with these noisy carts?
Not only does the noise contribute to players having to listen to that racket all day, but the exhaust harms the local environment, especially that of the adjacent river preserve. While you may enjoy playing the course, it is unlikely you will enjoy the loud, obnoxious, gas golf carts you will have to ride. It is unfortunate that guests must use noisy, polluting carts.
The good, the bad, and the ugly...
Booked a last minute tee time ($25 recent aerification fees), arrived 20 minutes before tee time and stepped onto range to warm up, and immediately heard my name called to the starters shack.... 15 minutes before my tee time, so had no chance to warm up. First time playing here so not a big deal. Starter was very polite and informative. Played the Black tees which play to about 7,000 yards. THE GOOD: Great course layout. Nice mix of straightforward holes, slight doglegs, and nice par 3's. Visually intimidating on some holes, but not really a difficult course. THE BAD: GAS golf carts with no GPS in the carts. A higher-end club should at least have battery-powered carts, and GPS is pretty much standard these days, so seems odd. A few partially blind shots and hidden hazards. First time here, so again, not too big of a deal but something to consider playing here the first time. Guessing the natural areas are protected, which is why they are so overgrown to the point of blocking landing areas and greens on the back nine. Greens were punched in the last week or so, so they were quite bumpy. Was an automatic 2 putt kinda day. THE UGLY: The majority of the tees and fairways were both scalped and burnt out. Had to play preferred lies in the fairways, and often had to move it a couple club lengths just to find some grass. Honestly considered just playing 9 holes and calling it a day, but really wanted to see the whole golf course. Barely worth the $25 to play here. Hopefully it's better every other week of the year, and I was just unlucky.
Great course. Course was recently aerated so they won't run as true. But a great course.
Great course
The greens are still recovering from aeration however still a fun course to play
Pleasant place to play
There is nothing like going to a golf course early and practicing prior to your round and this GC has a wonderful practice area, chipping, range and putting green. Range balls included with the round. Greens were great, course layout was open and forgiving. I really enjoyed myself.
Golf Now members beware
I made a reservation on Golf Now to play with a 2 some since I didn’t want to play alone. I got to the course, checked in the pro shop, warmed up and heard the starter call my name. When I checked in with him, he told me I’d be starting on the back nine and playing alone. Needless to say, I wasn’t pleased and told him about it. Unbeknownst to me, the 2 some I had signed up with were members and apparently members aren’t too fond of playing with non-members; you know, the golfers who keep this club running otherwise they’d go bankrupt. I can understand members who can’t break 100 not wanting to play with low or mid handicappers but Riverwood should block off tee times that are used by members while retaining tee times for the general public so that we don’t run into these situations. Very poor management and communication on the part of the pro shop and starter.
As always a great course and in challenging at the same time. Green's rolled very true.
Slow Play
The course was in excellent condition especially considering the amount of rain we received lately. The greens rolled very true and were very plush.
No bad lies in the fairway either! The staff was very polite and professional.
This is the second time we have played here and will be back for more in the summer. However this is the second time getting stuck behind a VERY slow foursome, this time more interested in listening to music and socializing rather than playing.
Noisy, exhaust spewing, gas golf carts

Great Course
First time playing Riverwood. Will definitely come back, and play again.
Always a pleasure playing this course. The greens run smooth and always in pristine condition.
Great course in a great setting
The Riverwood course is nestled nicely in the Riverwood neighborhood and offers fairly wide fairways. A fair amount of water on the course and native Florida habitat. Hit your ball there and it's essentially gone. But the course certainly has wide enough fairways to make an enjoyable round. Plus, 5-6 tee box options to suit everyone. We played in mid August and the extreme heat didn't seem to have had any impact on the quality of the course.
