About
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N.C. State University was designed by Arnold Palmer with the help of N.C. State graduates Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson. It's home to the university's men's and women's golf teams but it's open to the public as well. It's a favorite among locals who claim it's one of the toughest golf courses in the Triangle. The course sprawls across more than 200 acres on the southernmost portion of Centennial Campus, a location that is easily accessible from I-40 and offers scenic views of the Raleigh skyline. The greens can be difficult to read and they are often framed by rough
areas and strategically placed bunkers that make them even trickier. It's an especially tough golf course to play on windy days. Lonnie Poole G.C. is a beast from the black tees but the shorter tees make it accessible for high handicappers.

Snack bar
I had 4:10 tee time..after playing the front I was looking forward to a cold beverage. Drive up to snack bar to find out it’s closed. It was around 6:00 there was no place to purchase water or any type of beverage.

Great Condition
Best condition I've seen Lonnie in 18 months. Fairways are full, rough is dense, greens very good other than the unrepaired ball marks!!!
Played in under 4 hours which is always nice.

Great golf course, pure fairways, amazing greens, if you are wanting to play an amazing course then Lonnie Poole is the nicest course for the money around. Does get busy but well worth the time

Nothing negative to say other than restaurant/bar wasn’t open for a beer after a round that finished at 5pm during the summer

Great Course!!!! Pace of play.....SLOW!!!
There are too many nongolfers playing this course! The group in front of us were playing for the 3rd time ever. Why do that to yourself and everyone behind you. Play an easier, shorter course where you can have fun. Besides that everything about the course is great! Be prepared for a long afternoon.

Awesome Course
This is such an awesome course. Bent grass greens are so nice this time of year, while places with Bermuda are in recovery. Don’t hit in the long stuff because you probably won’t find your ball. Cart paths only were a disappointment for me but I understand.
