Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University

Even though I’m a Tar Heel and I love UNC Finley! Lonnie Poole is an awesome course, in great condition!

Lonnie Poole is a very good course. I thought the greens were a little bit beat up, but that course does get a lot of play.

The only problem I had with the round is the no-show GolfNow people I was supposed to play with. I showed up for the appointed tee time, but the three other players (I did not know these three people) were no shows. Foursomes all over the tee sheet and I was a solo player. Fortunately, another GolfNow golfer who was stood up by his other three players was available, so the two of us waited on every shot because we were a twosome among a field of foursomes.

Great track! Great facilities.

A treat to play and great value.

This may have been one of my best golf experiences and I play regularly at different courses in Canada and the US. The Palmer design, difficulty and condition ( only blemish was greens had been recently aerated ) was excellent. It is a beautiful golf course and I hope to return one day.

Felt a bit rushed off the box and had the cart buzzing about rate of play because we let a single and a twosome through. Otherwise, really nice and challenging course. Aeration in full effect, but dated and noted in purchase box. Wasn't a fan of the constant rate of play notification - understandable when hacking on a bad day, but not for proper etiquette.

Love the course, the layout, the staff, the location. All good.

Everything was GREAT!!!

If you are an average golfer with a higher handicap you probably do not want to take on this course. The high grass right off the fairways makes this a very frustrating course to play.

Had a beautiful day. The course was being aerated but greens still putted pretty well. Course is very scenic and you have a beautiful view of the Raleigh skyline from the 11th tee. Very challenging with plenty of sand traps. Would recommend the Wolfpack tees the first time playing so you get a feel for the course.

the course was in very good shape, the greens were very firm and fast. I enjoy this course very much. leave your shots below the hole otherwise you may have a lot of 3 putts

I think the Marshal thinks it’s funny that the round was 5:10. That’s the impression I have.

My former colleague and I try to play once a week weather permitting and this course is the most difficult one we play. The variety of hole layouts is very good and it is a good challenge for handicappers in the mid 90’s. Driving range and ancillary facilities are very good.

Too much rain and cool temps have kept Poole in marginal conditions for March. Greens were good....other than numerous unrepaired ball marks! Fairways are damp and matted down. Collars are very spongy. Once we get some dry weather with heat the course will be back to it's usual great condition. Wait until May unless you get a great deal.

The Lonnie Poole course at NC State was an interesting test. It has the traditional hallmarks of Palmer designs with lots of sand around, in some cases with large lips to clear. It was soggy when I played it but they rolled the greens and they were firm and fast, so it was a bit inconsistent if you landed on the green or in the fringe. The greens are undulating and you have to aim for the right spots mores than the flag a lot. Would need to play it a few times to get it all figured out.

The practice facilities are a little odd with a chipping area in the middle of the front 9 in the woods, and a practice tee for the college team by the 11th tee (they hit over it back to the range). You also need to follow the signs because the routing is a little screwy.

But there are several interesting holes and it would be a fun play in season when in top shape I'd imagine. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

Good layout, great shape for the recent weather, greens surprisingly good for winter, good course for a left to right ball flight which is surprising for an AP design. You won’t regret playing here unless you choose the wrong tee box.

Lonnie Poole is always in good shape. Golf rangers were very helpful today as the cart GPS was not working and they changed our cart out while we were on the course. Very friendly staff, excellent course.

Don’t miss an opportunity to experience the beautiful views of downtown Raleigh while playing this course.

Once again played Lonnie Poole golf course, really one best courses in area, played with three friends all single digit handicap, and all three thought greens unfair, think might be the golfer, as make 20 foot putt nobody says anything. The course in great shape and speed play was good.
