Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Greens roll very well
Bear creek is a good course. Greens roll true and are smooth. Not hard and not too soft; can make of break your round. Be sure to get some swings in before the business picks around the course
Enjoyed the course
I’ve played Bear Creek a few times now. Of the less expensive courses, it stands heads and shoulders above the others. The layout is fun and the greens are very good. Pace was slow at times with the influx of Covid golfers, but it’s like that at most places at this price point. I’ve been behind two groups that seemed to care more about drinking than golf. I usually just skip a few holes to get clear because golf is not their forte, but they are having fun.
The course has a few.wet areas from all of the rain and those areas do not seem to drain well. I will certainly return from time to time as it’s a great course to work on your game.
The employees are top tier people and each and everyone of them were as courteous as they could be. Simply good people.
Lack of practice range or practice bunkers
This is the only reason for not playing this course on a regular basis. I drive across three county to play this course.

Bear Creek is always an excellent course.
Fairways are good, especially for the winter.
Greens are well kept and put true.
Excellent course.
