Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine
About
Located in Gainesville, Chicopee Woods Golf Course is one of the area's most popular public courses. The 27-hole layout is divided intro three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The nines, the Village, the School, and the Mill, share a beautiful rolling landscape provided by the surrounding foothills of the Appalachians. The School nine is the second longest of the three. Water comes into play on four holes, more than on any of the other nines. The course finishes with a memorable water hole. The par-5 ninth hole has two ponds that wrap around the green. Besides the water, you'll also have strategically placed bunkers to contend with. There are many challenging holes at Chicopee Woods G.C., but none of the courses are overly punishing for high handicappers.

Golfer Reviews
great course TERRIBLE pace of Play
The course was in good shape and the staff is nice. The pace of play was terrible. There are (3) 9's at Chicopee. Each 9 had at least 1 or 2 groups waiting to tee off. We could not tee off at our tee time due to it being stacked up and were not able to finish our round.
We love hearing about our golfers' experiences, jchristian. Please tell us more about what you enjoyed during your round. Thanks for choosing Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine!
Decent course
Nice course, but needs touched up around the edges. Staff could be more professional.
Greens have a textured feel and the ball doesn’t roll smooth.
3.5 / 5.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we will take your comments into consideration to enhance our customers' experience in the future.

Great course
This is probably the nicest public course in the area. Better than Chateau Elan. Better than Reunion. Their grounds crew deserves an award!!
Thanks so much for your wonderful review, anthojc. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your time with us. Please visit again soon. Thanks for choosing Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine!
Always worth the drive
Noticable improvements with cart paths. Faiways and tee boxes were full and smooth. Greens a little bumpy, likely due to recent punching.
Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round, lane4560173! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine.

Would have liked to have known the greens were recently aerated.
greens were messed up because of aeration. didn't know that. should have asked.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the aeration process that affected the greens. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your feedback.
Cart Path Only in Dry Conditions
Beautiful course! Greens were just aerated which is always a disappointment but understandable. The part that I don’t understand was the cart path only in very dry conditions and uncut fairways. We did get a big storm on Thursday but by Sunday the fairway was very dry and hard and it was still cart path only. We weren’t told this before we teed off but found out when our carts wouldn’t allow us on the fairway. Me for one and I know many others would rather not play with Cart path only. I would have rather walked and brought my pull cart.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for acknowledging the beautiful course. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the recent aeration and the decision to keep the course on cart path only. We understand that this can be disappointing, especially after the fairways had dried out. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our communication for future rounds. Thank you again for your review.
Recently aerated just fyi
Greens were recovering but they recently aerated and nothing was noted when booking tee time. Still a little bumpy. Pace of play was miserable. 4 groups on one hole (9 on school) and marshal just drove on by doing nothing.
Cdrewga, thanks for the amazing review and for choosing Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine. We hope to see you again soon!
Best value within 1 hour of ATL in any direction
Really nice course for the price. Great range set up. Clubhouse would be sweet with a little interior face lift. Pace of play was horrific. Really needs to be enforced. We aren’t pros out here. If you lose a ball or miss hit one you shouldnt spend 10 minutes looking or re-teeing. You still
Won’t break 90 :)
greenfeg22, thanks for the amazing review and for choosing Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine. We hope to see you again soon!
Greens are improving
Great course that is always in good shape. There are lots of blind shots, but the new GPS shows you where the carts in front of you are located on the hole which protects everyone! Great idea.
Greens were aerated in July, so they are still a little sandy & slow compared to normal. I imagine they will be back to normal by mid August. Still playable, but not perfect.

Beautiful conditions
The recent rain helped to make the course lush. And I like the newly paved cart paths.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your positive feedback on the recent improvements to our golf course, especially the lush greenery after the rain and the newly paved cart paths.
Blind shots are everywhere
Thank goodness the cart has GPS even though we were CPO the day we played. Checkin was fine not much explanation of how to check in but we got paired with a single that golf here so he showed us the process.
The course is crazy hilly. We play normally at Crystal falls which is hilly but nothing like this. Don't even think about walking this course unless your half Billy goat. The views are pretty but the golf? It's blind shots for most tee shots, blind shots to elevated greens. Blind shots around sharp dog legs, blind 2nd and 3 rd shots on par 5 holes. There are so many blind shots it feels like a Xmas gift when you get any shot you can actually see where you're hitting to. Not for us but maybe this is something you like...
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and provide feedback on your experience at our golf course. We appreciate your comments about the hilly nature of the course and the challenge it presents. We apologize if the check-in process was not thoroughly explained, but we are glad to hear that you were able to receive assistance from other golfers. Thank you again for your review.
Honor Your Word
On Thursday 7/20/23 my buddy called the course and booked a 1pm tee time for Sunday 7/23/23. He was quoted $50 because they had aerated the greens a couple weeks ago. Normally they charge $70 for the weekend. So when we checked in the guy behind the counter said it would be $70 because the greens had came back in and that the $50 deal ended on Friday 7/21/23. 🤔. We wouldn’t have been upset but greens were not back like he said. They were not worth $70. I enjoy Chicopee and I wouldn’t tell anyone not to play here but anytime they aerate make sure to get a name when you book. I guess on Thursday they didn’t know they were ending the deal on Friday.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent experience at our golf course. We apologize for any confusion regarding the pricing and the condition of the greens. We appreciate your feedback and will ensure better communication in the future.

The greens were plowed, not aerated.
Otherwise, everything else was good, even the pace of play, which is often glacial at Chicopee.
We apologize for the experience you had with the greens not being aerated. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for highlighting the positive aspects of your visit, especially the pace of play. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
