Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Established in 1926, Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club has long been one of the Sacramento Valley's most treasured courses. First opened as a nine-hole layout, the course expanded to a full 18 holes in 1960. Mature oak trees line the lush fairways and small greens and there is also a canal that snakes through the entire property, coming into play on 12 holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers protecting the greens. You're in for a formidable test on this golf course but the rough is quite manageable and the layout isn't particularly long or hilly. Plumas Lake's 10th is one of the most memorable holes. This tough hole is a short par 5 that requires an accurate drive over a creek that crosses the fairway before you're faced with an elevated green.

Outstanding value!
Greens are "green" and fast. Pin placements are challenging. Bunkers in good condition. Kudos to groundskeeper and staff.
Excellent course for the money
Enjoyed the round with another fella who also went to GolfNow. Greens are very difficult as well as fast. Fairways are hard and you need to club down this time of year in order to stay on greens. Course will play much easier since I am now familar with doglegs and the creek that disects many of the fairways. Bring your golf course app to help you see the hazards.

Greens in best shape of the year!
Some "ground under repair" on the day I played, but greens in super shape and the staff attentive and friendly. Fast pace of play - I walked - and nice weather made this a perfect day.
This course is challenging but worth playing.
I play here a ton, it's 5 min from my house. There are lots of trees so you have to stay in the fairway. Even on some of the doglegs, the trees will get in your way if you don't hit the ball far enough. The ditches/creeks can be a nightmare. You'll think you'll get over them or stay in front of them, but the distance is deceiving. The greens were fast and the ground was pretty dry, so just be ready for that if it hasn't rained in a bit.
Prepare to be challenged
Without local course knowledge the Plumas greens present a challenge to the visitor. Played on a Thursday and little play allowed for a quick round. A little long from the whites for us (two senior players) but the bermuda fairways allowed for much roll. Yardage (without gps) was difficult to gauge as a result and markers that were there seemed understated by 5-10 yards. Along with tree lined fairways, several holes presented hazards unknown to those not previously initiated. Staff / course conditions / pace of play all above average. I will return - particularly good value for the money ($25-30 with cart).
love that course and the people made it even better! i cant wait to play it again :)
love the variety of challenges and the length! the greens are difficult but enjoyed the challenge. its a wonderful track golf-wise with equally great parklike scenery.
Nice course
Nice track to play. Be patient it is slow going. If long golf play is your way this place is for you. Other than that nice place
to many trees
the course has to many trees with huge branches hanging over most fairways and greens.this is a hard course for the average player. needs major tree triming!
Solid, older-style course
Its an older-style course, with mature trees and challenging greens (small and slopey). Played blues. Par 3's are long, and ditches on a few hole force carry/layup decisions. I enjoyed the course, plan to play it again. I got a discount ($34) through golfnow, so my "value for the money" was based on that.
A great outing!
The course is well maintained. It is a little oasis in the middle of nothing...literally. I played it many years ago but had sort of forgotten about it. We had a great time and plan to go back again very soon.
Tough course but play it anyway
Odd layout for some of the holes. Trees in the fairway and the greens are some of the toughest around. Great to play, but do not expect to score your average score. Add 4 to 6 shots per round.
Long Greens
The greens were really long and they were super soft. If you go for the green club up to get close to the pin!
Tougher than rating indicates
Standard white tees are 6159 yards, and yardage seems longer. Hwever, other than some tough bunkers (which are in good shape) the course is fairly forgiving. Errant fairway shots that find the trees are usually findable and hittable. Only rub if you haven't played is that a number of fairways have creeks crossing where you can't see them. Very enjoyable course.
great open course
beautiful course. super fun. challenging but not too hard. greens are nice. great first time.
One of the best values near Sacramento
Greens in near perfect condition, no pace of play issues, and the ability to play a second 18 holes for $10 makes Plumas Lakes a real bargain.
Outstanding old school course. Very well maintained
This is an outstanding course. Pace of play is perfect. Challenging but fair.
This is a great course
We had a wonderful round and will return. The only problem was that the two-some in our group were playing from the back tees, did not know etiquette, and were very slow.
The course was well maintained and the staff is friendly and accomidating.
I have golf many courses and I rate this course one of the best in the area . The course is well maintained and challenging . The staff in the pro shop is friendly and helpful every time I visit. The facility also has a comfortable club house with great food and beverage after a round of golf . The employee named Kris in the bar was very nice and a pleasant person to be around after our round that day Thanks for everything you do Plumas Lake Staff.....I will continue to recommend this course to friends.
Course that requires some shot making skills.
Nice course. Greens roll very nicely. A few thin spots around the greens but they are making improvements in that area. Small projects going on around the course should enhance the overall condition.
